Chopped Suey!

Postby planosteve » Sun Aug 04, 2024 7:55 am

People usually visit Colorado in the summer to get away from the heat. Growing up in Kansas, that's what we did for a week every summer in a place called Lake Isabel. We rowed qround dragging shiny rigs with hooks and worms. Then a big fish fry the last night before heading back to Kansas. We still have forest fires burning in Colorado!

I'm not sure of your point, what is rowing ground?

Why is a vacation 50 years ago pertinent?

Your not alone, in fact Colorado looks small in comparison.

States currently reporting large fires:
Total number of active large fires
Total does not include individual fires within complexes. 62
Oregon (16)
California (11)
Idaho (8)
Montana (6)
Washington (5)
Wyoming (4)
Utah (3)
Arizona (3)
Colorado (3)
New Mexico (1)
Florida (1)
Nevada (1)

Typo. Qround instead of around.

We fished for trout from rowboats. We dragged "cowbells" with worms stuck on the hooks. I remember it got hot in the afternoons and we got sunburned. Later, in Texas I learned to fly fish which was a lot more fun. I still belong to the Dallas Fly Fishers.

We used to go to Green Mountain Falls (NW of Colorado Springs) every other summer, alternating with the Ozarks. I remember one summer going to a municipal pool somewhere with everyone in the water up to their necks. Turned out to be a heated pool & you felt like you'd freeze to death when you got out. It wasnt much fun. Summer in the Colorado mountains was not like summer in Kansas. Skyline Drive near Cañon City was cool.
I feel like I'm parked diagonally in a parallel universe.
