What major goals do you want to accomplish
What major goals do you want to accomplish
I am down to three:
Retire - in 3-7 years
Add on to the house - an additional bathroom, bedroom, and workroom
Acquire remote rural property - 80 to 160 acres north of Abilene, east of Lubbock, south of the Red
That is it for me

Re: What major goals do you want to accomplish
Someone asked me once if I ever made New Years resolutions.
I said I never have..but if I did..it would be the same every year.
"Don't become a blimp..avoid financial ruin..try not to croak."

Re: What major goals do you want to accomplish
I have already completed my retirement. So, I'm trying to decide what to do next.
Make America Great Again. Impeach Trump!

Re: What major goals do you want to accomplish
I would love to retire. But I've got one kid in college, one kid still in high school, and that cheap Obamacare that has to be paid for. So my goal is to have enough energy to keep working for about 5 or 10 more years.
Re: What major goals do you want to accomplish
I can take on projects when I want to or pass on them. Am at the point that I won't take on the ones
that keep me away from home for weeks at a time. I guess that means that I am semi-retired.
Top three things on my list.
1. Do everything I can each day to show Karen that I love her with every fiber on my soul.
2. Continue fighting the cancer and live long enough to get Tanner and Trey thru their teens.
3. Buy the 200 acres that butts up against our n/w pasture. Don't really need it, just want it.

Sounds like the price of all that will keep you working more than 7 more years!!

Re: What major goals do you want to accomplish
Not sure that I have many more "must do" on my list.
Several places that I really wanted to see, I have been fortunate enough to visit.
Living to be 80 is something I'd like to see happen. Dying in my mid 80s seems about the right time to go.

Retirement seems nice, but it's only an illusion for me.

If I remember correctly..you are quite young.
"Time" and a bit of determination/dedication are all that's necessary.

Retirement can be an illusion for anyone, we can die, or go broke.

Well yeah..that's what happened to my father..gone at 61..but the potential for that is no reason not to plan.
And besides, a little but if planning assured my mother got to finish the game as planned..which for them was to make a move to Cape Cod.

Re: What major goals do you want to accomplish
I really have had just one major goal in my life, to see my children grow up , healthy, with their own famalies. The youngest of my three kids is 41, and they collectively have produced seven grandchildren 2years-19 years.
A minor goal was to retire in fairly good health, which I did last year.

How is the cancer?? Haven't seen you mention anything lately, Grouchy...
Re: What major goals do you want to accomplish
Found out about 2 1/2 years ago that a cancer has metastasized to my spine. I posted about in on the old board, asked for thoughts and said I was not going to flog the subject on the board.
Anyway, looks like I will have to start chemo (yeah!) after the first of the year. It will be ok.
We have a bunch of grandkids and I love them all. But it is different with Tanner and Trey. My God I love those boys. See them several times a week and have them with us most weekends. I am not going to meet their wives and kids, but if I can help them thru their teens I will be a happy old grouch.
Life is good!

I remember your post on the old board. Just hadn't heard anything in a while.

Yep, no need to beat a dead horse, especially in public. But is #2 on my list. Thanks for asking.

Yeah, I realize that is something you'd prefer not to bring up too often. But thanks for sharing. Will pray that you continue be able to live your life as you wish.

Thanks. I have your man on my list even though I don't know his name. I just refer to his as your guy.
