We have declined quite a bit since Ernie Pyle, I don't if more than 5 people on this board even recognize the name.

Not hardly, Ernie Pyle caught a Nip bullet in the head on the island of Leshima(sp) during the battle for Okinawa; he was highly respected for his reporting on the Second World War from the perspective of the Combat Soldier and Marine. I believe he was one of a very few civilians awarded a Purple Heart.

I'm trying to think of the name of the famous WWII war-correspondent cartoonist.
Bill something- no it wasn't O'Reilly:)

He was wounded in europe by an allied bomber iirc.

Bill-0 played a CBS news clip of the demonstrations in Buenos Aires.
He had Don Browne Former NBC News Miami Bureau
Browne said "You came down to get your ticket punched and you did"
Bill-0 ignored what he said.

A little more context would be helpful; without any, that statement doesn't necessarily sound like a negative to me. Could indicate that he wound up in the soup, so to speak.

He was wounded in europe by an allied bomber iirc.

He was killed on an island near Okinawa in April 1945 by Japanese machine gun fire. We learned about him in school, but was more than two decades after he dies.

I recorded the replay at 10pm and watched it again this morning. Bill-0 is really rattled. He even got El-Rushbo to do a shoot the messenger on Corn. Will see what he does tonight.

Tracy Rowlett and Byron Harris say O'Reilly is full of it.

http://mediamatters.org/blog/2015/02/24 ... ion/202655

"Bill O'Reilly's a phony, there's no other way to put it," said Tracy Rowlett, a former WFAA reporter and anchor who worked at the station with O'Reilly. "He was not up on the porch when he heard the gunshots, he was in Dallas. He wasn't traveling at that time."

Byron Harris, a reporter at WFAA for the past 40 years, agreed that O'Reilly had not traveled to Florida for the story and accused him of stealing his reporting on de Mohrenschildt's suicide from a newspaper.

According to Harris, O'Reilly "was in Dallas. He stole that article out of the newspaper. I guarantee Channel 8 didn't send him to Florida to do that story because it was a newspaper story, it was broken by the Dallas Morning News."

Both Harris and Rowlett said O'Reilly never mentioned having been present for the gunshot during his time at WFAA.

"I don't remember O'Reilly claiming that he was there. That came later, that must have been a brain surge when he was writing the book," Rowlett said.

Harris further pointed out that WFAA "would have reported it as some kind of exclusive -- and there was no exclusive -- if O'Reilly had been standing outside the door."

Not to mention that his account is inconsistent with the police report, which also states there had been no strangers around the house at the time of the death, and the tape records the sound of movements into and out of the house but has no sound of anyone calling at the door.

It's like the death of a thousand cuts. Now O'Reilly has been called out for saying that he "witnessed" nuns being murdered in El Salvador when none were killed while he was in the country.

The Florida suicide lie is all over the news today.
O'Reilly is going to have trouble with that one.
There's no way for him to wiggle out of it or muddy the truth like he did with The Falklands.

I believe he will sidestep it. He'll say he is through answering these bogus allegations. 'It's time to move on.'
I can't imagine him ever admitting he lied.

Media Maggots is a very biased leftist organization; be very cautious about anything report.

That being said, O'Reilly is a blowhard, IMO.

I don't have any love for Media Matters, but I've not seen a statement from Tracy Rowlett or Byron Harris that they were misquoted.

There are rumors that his reporting from Auschwitz is being questioned now.
