A possible explanation of Reid's battered face
A possible explanation of Reid's battered face
Senator Harry Reid’s 73-year-old brother has been arrested and charged with driving drunk and hitting a police officer. Larry Reid was arrested for DUI about 12:40 p.m. between Boulder City and Searchlight in Nevada. Mr. Reid was also charged with battery of a police officer, driving across a median, resisting arrest, not wearing a seat belt and possession of a gun while under the influence of alcohol. .A trooper saw Larry Reid’s Lexus SUV in the dirt median with the engine still running, Patrol spokesman Trooper Loy Hixson said.
The Nevada Senator’s office released a statement confirming that Larry Reid is the Democrat’s brother, saying only that it is ‘a private matter.’ Details of the arrest were not immediately available since the official complaint had not been filed with the court.
Meanwhile, his older brother, Senator Harry Reid, who recently suffered an accident while exercising, said in a video message last week he would not seek re-election next year, and threw his weight behind New York Senator Chuck Schumer to replace him when he leaves office.
Larry Reid is now the prime suspect in the beatdown of his brother, according to Power Line’s John Hinderaker:
On Monday I got a phone call from a man named Easton Elliott. We talked briefly on Monday, and have had additional telephone conversations since then. Elliott is a businessman who lives in the Las Vegas area, and he thinks he knows what really happened to Harry Reid. This is the story as he related it to me:
Elliott spent a portion of last New Year’s Eve at an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting in Henderson, Nevada. His AA group has meetings every hour on New Year’s Eve, along with a pot luck supper. There were approximately 20 people present at the meeting during the events described below.
Sometime between 10:00 and 11:30 p.m., a man entered the meeting. His appearance was striking: there was blood on his clothing, beginning around his midsection. His left hand was swollen. He appeared to be somewhat intoxicated and was visibly agitated. He introduced himself as “Larry.”
In a group discussion that was heard by a number of people, Larry said that he had just had a fight with a family member. Larry said he had been at a family get-together, and he didn’t remember much about the fight because he had blacked out. When he came to, he was rolling on the ground, fighting with a family member, and his clothes were bloody. Now, he said, he was frightened that the Secret Service would come after him.

Re: A possible explanation of Reid's battered face
If that is true, it is SO wrong. Nothing that happens inside an AA meeting is supposed to be brought up outside AA....especially not who is attending!!
Re: A possible explanation of Reid's battered face
I thought that also, other than maybe report it to Law Enforcement.

Re: A possible explanation of Reid's battered face
So you're saying Harry Reid's drunk brother was spotting for him when he was working out?
Re: A possible explanation of Reid's battered face
I hope that its true !! Embarrass the he11 out of the brother Reids and show the kinda people that they are . Also pretty funny , I like it !! Look like AA can't be trusted either and I thought that it all stayed in Las Vegas .

No fan of Harry Reid...but, if any of that story is true...........
1. I don't think Harry should be held responsible if he has a brother who has trouble with alcohol.
2. Shame on the person who told what happened at an AA meeting.
3. Shame on those who are yucking it up over a pretty sad state of affairs in that person's life. I find nothing amusing about a person whose life is real messed up with alcohol.
4. Harry is responsible for what Harry does--(and that is plenty to worry about)--and not responsible for what his brother does.
There is a branch of our family who gets into drunken rows. Has nothing to do with what happens at our house, or at OUR family gatherings.
I'd be mightly pis--- if someone wanted to say that was how MY family is/was.

I'm looking for a rematch !!
Re: A possible explanation of Reid's battered face
settle the rivalry once and for all after they both wet their whistles !
Re: A possible explanation of Reid's battered face
What about the then Senate Majority Leader lying to the American People ?
If this is really true, what would be wrong with Reid saying my brother beat me up during a drunken row ?
Makes the little Palin family dust up pale in comparison doesn't it; I seem to recall some here accusing them of being trailer trash; and they may be. But so might be the Reid family ? Some Lefty double standards at work ?
I think the AA member should have gone to Law Enforcement, but otherwise kept his mouth shut.

I still want a rematch , I'll supply the drinks !!
Re: A possible explanation of Reid's battered face
I did have a cousin who over-indulged at family get-togethers but he never got aggressive or nasty. As an example: The kids were all swimming in Tom's brother's huge swimming pool....we were trying to make the length of the pool underwater without coming up for a breath. The 5 brothers were like a generation older than us. 3 of us were the age of their children. So, Tom, having had an excessive amount of alcohol, challenged all of us. Now he was a "Navy frogman" in WW2. He jumped in fully clothed and beat the dickens out of all of us! 4 of us were on swim teams at different YMCAs. However, he didn't take his wallet or anything out of his pockets before jumping in. He hadn't brought a bathing suit...so he went home very damp while his wife was trying to get everything in his wallet dry. His father, my uncle, had the same problem. It's family legend that at my parents' wedding reception, as my mother and father were leaving for their honeymoon, my uncle looked at his wife and she was crying. His mother-in-law was crying.....my parents left and the crying increased. My uncle took a knife and saying "That SOB! He made them cry!" And promptly cut off the head of the groom on the wedding cake! Of course, I only know this from family stories. I think he was the favorite of all of us kids. He was a very kind, gentle and kid-oriented man. But all of us knew NEVER make Aunt Elsie or Grandma cry!

If you don't want to be held up to scrutiny and/or ridicule, don't become a public official.

And Reid should only be held accountable for his lies and cover-ups, including this one if true.
