Pricey, but Pappadeaux's has good catfish (IMO).

Aw Shucks (Lower Greenville) and Big Shucks (E Mockingbird) aren't too bad.

Hook, Line & Sinker is pretty good too, I would rate them with Aw Shucks and Big Shucks.

My all time favorite is "The Fish Fry" in Paris, TX

As I mentioned in a previous post, my husband has talked about going to McGeehee's for years. Now that Bill's is closed, we shall try McGeehee's.

I was also wanting a more local place to try.

I was going to recommend The Duck inn of Lake Dallas, but I Googled it first and found out they sold out, changed the name to Tierneys and moved to Lewisville. Too bad, the DI had been a favorite for years. Always a waiting list. Dont know about the new owners.

Someone mentioned Pappadaux (sp), if you go there, take lots of money $$$$$.

Dodie's Seafood is some of the best around. They have several locations.

I know the Carrollton location was closed, but there is one in Frisco.

Best fried catfish around.

You triggered a memory of mine. Back in the '90's, I used to audit a truck line headquartered in Batesville, AR. I used to schedule my flight into Little Rock, so as to make sure I got to Batesville in time to eat at Fred's Fish House. If you're ever in that area, it's worth going out of your way to eat there.

The Addison location is also closed. Don't know about the other locations.

I know they Carrollton location was not closed due to the food.

The guy who started that location did so because he just moved to Texas from Louisiana, and love the food so much he talked them into letting him start one up. When he was ready to retire, they just shut it down.

The Frisco location was going strong when I lived up there.

Aw Shucks and Big Shucks seem to be pretty consistent. I hate to hear the demise of the Duck Inn. Dodie's... meh.. I just don't care for their food. But, I'm a fish/seafood snob. Dodie's is too... industrial. And I can tell, kind of understandably being in landlocked Dallas, that their food is pre-frozen.

A few months ago I stumbled across a wonderful place. Fish City Grill on Preston. I actually wrote a letter to their company, praising them. Very very good food! As in so good... I'll probably go west of 75 to eat there in few days. Which, if you know me.. is no small undertaking. Here's their FB page if you care tocheck it out. https://www.facebook.com/pages/Fish-CIt ... 01?fref=ts
