Blue Bell gets a sugar daddy

Postby BillB » Tue Jul 14, 2015 6:52 pm

Fort Worth oil man, Sid Bass, has invested a large sum of money in Blue Bell Ice Cream.
Blue Bell has reportedly lost over $100 million since it recalled all of its products in April.
Details of how much Bass put into it and what he gets in return have not been revealed.

I figure they would have never have been able to come back without his support. Really thought it was curtains for Blue Bell. But I'm sure Bass considered this a good investment.
Working to love my fellow person regardless : >

The Bass family has always been "community" minded. I'm very happy but not surprised by this turn of events. I haven't found any vanilla ice cream that I'd want to serve with my peach pie. Dreyer was awful. I certainly didn't want Ben and Jerry's because of the price and I didn't even find a plain vanilla.

Sid Bass is a well known philanthropist, but I doubt he is bailing out a commercial enterprise out of kindness.
He wants to make money out of it and I hope he does. I hope Blue Bell comes back and succeeds.

I miss Blue Bell's many flavors. The plain flavors are good, but they also get some of the fancier flavors right.
