The Northwest Hwy location was one of my parent's "to do' restaurants when we visited Dallas growing up.

I think the place had all the business they wanted. At the prices they charged, they didn't need heavy traffic. It looks like at age 78, the owner decided it was time to retire. The waitresses in there were all older too. My mom will miss that place. She said she doesn't go there that often, but it was a nice quiet "go to" place.

And 3 cheers for quiet. I realize the noisy places just want you to eat and get the hell out. I find that very irritating. I'm perfectly willing to pay more for a quiet and restful restaurant. Nerve jangling noise is not my idea of a pleasant dining atmosphere.

It's tough to lose a restaurant that's been a staple in your life. You might not visit that often, but it was there and you knew you'd get quality food and service. It was a place you could take visitors and knew they'd enjoy it.

No loud music in there which is nice. However, we were seated next to a table of drunks last time mom took us. In a quiet place like that they seem to be even more irritating.

I liked Vincent's but haven't been in years.
There was another seafood place on Mockingbird right at the end of the runway at Love Field back in the 70's. Anyone remember the name of it?
Was it Jay's marine grill?

The owner of the company for which my husband worked introduced us to Vincent's.

We had returned to Texas and our 3rd wedding anniversary was coming up. Chuck told us to go, ask for a specific waiter for our meal.
We did, and Chuck had made arrangements with the waiter to bring us a little anniversary cake at the end of the meal.
We have been married 41 years and I think at least 35 anniversaries have been celebrated at Vincent's.

Where, oh where, will I ever find red snapper as good as "a la Vincent's?"

We are going tonight to bid adeau.

Chuck has retired out of the city, but when he is in town he eats at Vincent's at least once per week.

We talked about that in another thread a month or so ago. I said it was the first place I had lobster. I remembered it as serving salads with Lebanese salad ingredients. I didn't care for the salad but the lobster and the restaurant were very nice. I thought someone said that it was Vincent's.

No, not Vincents,that one on mockingbird was near central. I think the one i'm talking about also had one in the oaklawn area. They also had great rolls!

I'm glad someone thinks as I did about their location. If you knew it was there, you found it by accident. From Preston Rd you could hardly see the signs as you drove by at 40 mph.Almost in the alley of the shopping center.... I too, hate to see them go, especially their scallops and slaw. I guess they will be joining Steak & Ale,in fond memories of my past.
