I absolutely hate being an empty nester....
Daughter is headed back to college today. It was probably her last summer at home; she intends to get an internship next summer. Won't see her again until Thanksgiving, and that will be in West Lafayette. If she plays some this year, we might make a trip or two; their closest scheduled match is in Birmingham.
Would like to make four Purdue games this year, including an away game at Michigan State. To do so means I probably won't be able to make the opener at Marshall. Still intend to go to an away game at Iowa (closest); home game vs. Nebraska, and home game against Indiana (big rivalry game).
He should start this year at right tackle. Next year he could be the left tackle or the center; or he could stay at right tackle. Who knows, he may be a guard, too....

Re: Empty Nest
Son just texted that he is on track to graduate in December of 2016, Civil Engineering. Has been really tough to get the right classes; we were expecting him to have to be there through May of 2017.

Any chance the pros will kick his tires?

Maybe. OL coach says his versatility will get him a sniff. Hopefully he gets to go to the combine.
He has to remain healthy.
Regardless, it has been a fun ride...

So I will miss being ignored and the constant fighting between my two girls some day? heh.

The athletic accomplishments are great and it would be great to become a pro.
What is the most impressive to me is his mental skills.

Re: Empty Nest
That's what our older son calls himself. It hasn't happened in years because now he just buys another house. He loved rehabbing houses (he did have a regular job) and selling them out from under himself. He did a lot of the work himself and all of the design, but did use sub-contractors. I fell in love with one of the houses. I call it "The little house in the woods". It is just 2 bedrooms and 2 baths. But he cleared out some of the area and put in a basketball court and a volleyball court. He got these houses for a song. His former roommate is the only heir in the family so aunts, grandmothers left houses to him. He needed cash and Mike had it.
