Question of the day.

Postby grouchy » Wed Aug 12, 2015 3:36 am

If you had to move to another place in the United States (lower 48), where would it be and why?

If something happened to my wife, I'd move back to Kansas where I was born and raised. Still have family there. If we were both moving, probably to Colorado, maybe Ft. Collins. Have some family there too.

If Bob went before me I'd move back to Austin. It's where all my family lives and I'd have a place to live in my Mom's house.

Like Planosteve, back to Kansas, where I still have family & friends. But my children & grandchildren were all born here in Texas, so it would be very difficult for me to move.

With the exception of nephews and nieces, my entire family lives within a 50 mile radius of Dallas. So I think I will just stay here.

Or any place not named Houston.

Not really; but it would be west of US 281.

Are we supposed to pick another state? If not, I'm moving to Port A with Ann Jusko.

I thought at first it was state. In that case I'd move to northern Arkansas or southern Missouri because of nearby mountains, lovely countryside, moderate climate, 4 actual seasons, and fairly low cost of living.

If I had to move out of state, it would be Arizona or New Mexico. I don't like cold at all.

I used to love the hill country but I doubt it's the wide open spaces of old..........and, as I understand it, the Fredricksburg area has become very expensive.

Have never been to NC but I'm sure I would love it.

If I could take my grandkids with us, LOL, I would like to live in New Mexico or maybe on a lake somewhere a little cooler than Texas.

Sue, my daughter loves the mountains of western NC; I could see her staying in that area when she is done with college, if she can find gainful employment...

Son wants to come back to Texas, but I think he will go wherever life takes him (girlfriend, nfl...). He wants to work in transportation (railroad/hwy construction), so we'll see...

If I had a choice where I go, it would be in or near Chama, NM... My wife wants to go to Llano...

All the really cool places come with a hefty price tag. I grew up in WNC and know enough people to get a pretty good deal. Or so I've been told. By this time next year I hope we'll be in our last home. Northern NM or southern CO are possibilities.

WNC has become crowed with summer homes. Maggie Valley looks like its front teeth have been kicked out with everybody cutting down the beautiful trees in front of the decks and floor to ceiling windows. It's great if you live there, but driving thru that and other such areas look increasingly shabby in myopinion.

Chama is a wonderful choice.
