Blue Bell is on its way
But, perhaps only in the coastal stores. Distriibutation center in Alvin is receiving product now.
Driver tells my brother that the fa ility must be filled before they will move any to the stores because they know it will fly off the shelves..
HEB told stores to look for it mid Sept.

Re: Blue Bell is on its way
I plan on celebrating by purchasing some. Ice cream is one of my very favorite foods though I haven't tasted any in more than 4 years. But I'll change my ways for the return of Blue Bell.
Working to love my fellow person regardless : >

When you see Blue Bell trucks on the roads in the DFW area don't get too excited. Blue Bell has been leasing out their refrigerated trucks while the plants are shut down.
Re: Blue Bell is on its way
When the product hits the stores and sells out immediately, SOMEBODY is going to insist that Blue Bell did this on purpose to boost sales.

I don't believe they did that. I read Blue Bell was close to bankruptcy before the Bass family stepped in. They had lost over $100 million.

Of course, that's what they WANT you to think!

Yep, tell that to all the furloughed workers.

All part of the ruse.
And we're all falling for it . . .

It doesn't matter to me. I used to eat a ton of the stuff- now I have diabetes and can't eat any of it.

I think Blue Bell handled this tragic situation as best they could. And to Texans, it was a tragic thing! They held on as long as they could before laying off employees as far as I'm concerned. Was if a quality control employee who didn't do the job or was it a supplier who didn't? I haven't heard any "cause" other than bacteria. But were did it come from?

Agreed, Ann. The with enough effort almost anything can be made into a conspiracy............at least to some people's thinking.
I think the bacteria was in the drains or came up from the drains. As I recall it's a fairly common problem in commercial food company drains. Don't remember where I read that because it's been several months ago.

I think they messed up badly.
Blue Bell knew of the listeria contamination 2 years before anyone got sick, and they kept making ice cream.
Had Blue Bell not had the loyal following they had (and don't deserve), it would have gone belly up.
Had the Bass family not shown up to bail them out they would have still gone under.

Yeah, but I think they were working with inspectors and that the inspectors okayed the continuation of manufacturing. Which brings up the question - is is the government's fault?

Re: Blue Bell is on its way
I do think Blue Bell has earned their star status. Yes, there are other ice cream companies that make a good product, but you'll pay dearly for it. I tried a few different kinds of vanilla (it was peach season) and they were terrible. I stepped up financially and paid $7.99 for Haagen-Dazs for 28 oz. It is good, I'll admit that BUT you sure do pay for it. We actually threw out 2 3pint containers of Dryers after sampling them. I'd gotten a vanilla and a chocolate. I tried a pint of Kroger brand and out it went.

Re: Blue Bell is on its way
Let me know when it goes on sale for under $4 and there's a bogo coupon that's when I'll buy some. Its good ice cream just not worth the premium price vs the competition.
It's ok if you disagree with me.
I can't force you to be right.

Re: Blue Bell is on its way
A lot of ice creams have shrunk the size of their containers. Not Blue Bell. So far.
