I have a neighbor who likes to call the police/fire rescue

So back on Sept 4th I noticed a Fire Rescue truck pull up, no lights or siren and go across the street. They transported a lady, she was back the next day.

Since then they have arrived at 2ish in the morning and 10ish at night and transported her, shes back usually in a day or so.

Police have shown up 3 times now, twice yesterday. Last time was about 5 pm when she was outside with a German Shepherd.

Lady needs help.

Last group that lived in that house liked to park in front of everyone elses house and would stand outside at 2 or 3am chatting like they were getting off work and then get in cars and leave and return the next afternoon.

So sorry. Wonder who's paying the bill for her activities. Sounds like she's lonely and frightened...........or just plain loony.

I'm so thankful that our nearest neighbor is about a quarter mile away.

She has family who have come by and there was a man who seemed to live in the house.

Forgot to mention, fire/rescue showed up with lights on second and third time. For an odd reason they had all their side floodlights on while working the scene.

Wouldn't the neighborly thing to do, is go over and ask her if she needs transport, you could take her? If she's diabetic, she probably needs stabilized before trans port, so she does need parametics for that though. I suspect that's what her problem is, if she's back in the next day or two.

And, if she has caregivers already - as you said she does, you certainly don't want to become entangled in her mental health problems. That can get very ugly.

Is this a rental house you live near? Is there a landlord you can call? I would call and ask if you could have some input next time the place is leased. Maybe you could even find someone yourself.

Its across the street, was owner occupied ( he wasn't a good neighbor) with multiple people living with him. Went vacant for months, then people moved in. I don't recall seeing activity that would make me believe it was being sold or sold.

Lady spent the last half hour or so randomly cutting from plants and walking her yard.

I'd agree with bodine but I think the first responders have no choice but to respond. Seems it would be fair if people who call for help regularly, for no good reason, should be fined.

I made my first ever 911 call yesterday. Apparently some idiot decided it would be a good idea to toss a lit cigarette. Result was a grass fire just across the road. Quick response from the volunteers. We appreciate our dedicated volunteers.

Most communities fine frivolous 911 calls with something like a 200-400 dollar fine.

Well there is the "Mind your own business" saying since it really isn't anyone else's business. And then there's the compassionate aspect. You've all decided she's a mental case. I haven't. I know nothing about her or her life. She may be calling because John is watching her so closely. LOL!

I don't think it's a fair statement that "all" have decided she's a mental case. Some of us said there should be, and apparently are in some places, fines for frivolous calls. Who knows whether her calls are frivolous other than the responders. To say all the action is irksome to John, and probably other neighbors......especially all the emergency lights in the middle of the night...... is, in my opinion, a fair statement.

Like many EMS providers, Ft. Worth's MedStar has its frequent flyers. And like more and more EMS organizations are discovering, MedStar found that helping those callers with targeted individual interventions can be a successful strategy for reducing the strain they put on the 9-1-1 system.

The goal of the program is to reduce nonemergency 9-1-1 calls, help patients get more appropriate healthcare and reduce overall costs to the system. Under the program, providers developed individual care plans for each of those 21 system overusers. With those plans, those callers now get regular home visits from advanced practice paramedics to assist them with whatever needs the program identified.

"We had one lady who was calling just because she was lonely," says Beeson. "We hardly ever transported her. So knowing that, we started visiting her three times a week. Now she doesn't call us anymore. She just wants someone to sit down and talk to her for a few minutes."

Since its inception, the Community Health Program has saved more than $1 million in EMS and emergency room costs, and reduced 9-1-1 use by its patients by an estimated 64%.
