Global Warmin News

Postby planosteve » Tue Dec 01, 2015 8:57 pm

WASHINGTON — The Environmental Protection Agency on Monday called for an increase in the amount of ethanol and other renewable fuels blended into the nation’s fuel supply despite sustained opposition by an unusual alliance of oil companies, environmentalists and some GOP presidential candidates.

The EPA issued a final rule designed to increase production of ethanol to be blended with gasoline through 2016, a decision that could reverberate in Iowa’s crucial presidential caucuses.

The agency said it will require more than 18 billion gallons of renewable fuels, most of it ethanol, in 2016. The amount is less than was set in a 2007 renewable fuels law but more than was proposed by the EPA in May.

The decision doesn’t necessarily mean a higher percentage of ethanol in an individual driver’s tank and isn’t likely to have much effect on gas prices. But it does mean there will be a higher supply of the homegrown fuel overall.

Janet McCabe, the acting assistant administrator for the EPA’s Office of Air and Radiation, said the renewable fuels industry is “an incredible American success story” and the 2016 targets are a signal it is growing.

“It’s all about more choice and making those fuels more available” to consumers, she said.

Cruz is opposes the Ethanol Scam, and is doing fairly well in Iowa.

Ethanol laced fuel increases smog, costs too much, encourages farmers to grown more corns which damages wildlife habitat, and destroys engines.

Fact: Gasoline would be cheaper and fuel mileage would be better if we abolished the ethanol requirement in fuel.

Can we just make Iowa a territory and take away ANY PREMISE that their political opinion matters in the least. Better yet turn it into America's national dump for all toxic waste worldwide. Problem is the idiots there would think it was an improvement. Burning our food for the idiocy of clean fuel is a national embarrassment but then again so is the entire cesspool state called Iowa.
Liberalism is a mental disorder.

There should be no government subsidies for anything.

The government should get completely out of the fuel manufacturing business. That is to say, the government should NOT be dictating to the oil companies how they manufacture their gasoline.

The public is always served best by free markets.

I agree about ethanol, but I think it's appropriate for States to regulate fuel additives.
