A four-year-old girl helped police solve a burglary at her home allegedly staged by her babysitter, who told police two armed black men had broken in and forced her to leave with the three children she was watching, ABC News reports.

"They told us to get out of the house cause they wanted to steal stuff," four-year-old Abby told F0x 13. "The bad guys stole my kitty bank, they stole my iPod."

The 17-year-old babysitter told police two black men had broken into the home in Ferndale, Washington, one of whom looked like a next-door neighbor, according to WPIX-TV.

But that story fell apart when Abby told police her side of the story.

"She described the suspects as having peach-colored skin as opposed to having dark-colored skin," Sheriff Bill Elfo told ABC News.

The babysitter eventually admitted to police she was involved in the thefts. She concocted the story after letting two men, including her 16-year-old boyfriend, into the house to steal about $1,500 worth of the family's belongings, including laptops, game system components and a piggy bank, according to a police report.

The babysitter and her two alleged accomplices were arrested on charges of theft and robbery, according to Fox 13. The family's belongings were retrieved, Abby told Fox 13, "because of me being the superhero."

Speaking of children turning in the thief........
When our son was about 8, we hired the girl across the creek (age 18) to watch our son during the summer. She was supposed to be awaiting her induction into the military and had a few months to be available. He had a bday the last week of June and got around $100 from aunts/grandparents etc.
When we went on vacation July 4th, the money was gone.
I suspected the girl, but since we had no proof..........IIRC we didn't have her come back after our vacation.
About the end of August, our son had walked with his friend to the grocery store......He met up with her BF who told our son, "xxx took your money. She threw the wallet into the back of the fireplace." BF told us the girl took jewelry from homes where she did sitting.
Son rushed home--empty wallet was there. My husband spoke with police. We then called the girl. I told her she had 24 hours to return the money or we were pressing charges and it would be a felony. She denied it --and when I told her BF would testify against her, the tune changed.
Then her mother called and was angry that I spoke to daughter, not her. I told mother the girl was age 18 = adult.
Mother wanted to deny all blah, blah......But having the BF willing to testify changed everyone's tune. Next afternoon girl and BF showed up, each gave us $50 and case was closed.
