Wondering---if the magic wand was waved, and you had free trip and tickets to see 3 Olympic events (summer Olympics), which 3 would you select to see?

Re: Olympic talk
I'd decline the trip and stay home and watch on TV. Rangers baseball and college football are about the only sports I spend much time on. And even on them I like the ability to change the channel when "my team" is losing or the game just gets boring.
Re: Olympic talk
That's way too hard ... I like so much of it.
I actually know Michael Johnson and (not for that reason) really follow the sprints and
the intermediate races ... as you said.
I won't miss the swimming. (Esp those incredible women).
But my favorite is women's gymnastics. Been a fan since Mary Lou Retton and
Nadia Comeneci(sp). There was a great Russian women's competitor whose name I
don't remember but really enjoyed.
We don't miss much of the Olympics. My guilty pleasure is beach volleyball ... men's
and womens.
I almost fell in love with Ekaterina Witt and her brilliance on the ice ... but that's
a topic for another day.

Re: Olympic talk
I guess I could have just said "swimming"--but, please spare me the synchronized swimming!!
My husband ran track in his youth so we watched all the track events.
I do enjoy watching the Olympics--but as mentioned, it is nice to do it from my home, and having replay.
As I get older, I don't like crowds so much.

Re: Olympic talk
I would love to watch the women's and men's gymnastics...the team and the all around. Also the tennis. I didn't see any of it on TV during the Olympics but I would really like to see professional tennis players in person some day. Another one I would like to see is the platform diving. It's like jumping off a 3 story building and I love to watch.
The marathons are fun to watch on TV, but I don't think it would be very easy to follow in person.

I guess my feeling is if you don't want to answer Library lady's question, just move along and post about Trump somewhere. But that's just me.

Re: Olympic talk
My favorite event is the 4x100 relay, but I'd take the 400m. My wife (and daughter) would prefer the gymnastics floor event. Incidentally (I may have mentioned this before), Trinity's long-time gymnastics coach, the late Mark Williams, was in charge of all of the gymnastics apparati at the Atlanta Olympics in '96. When there was a problem at the 2000 games with the uneven bars, I commented to my daughter that if Coach Williams had been in charge, that wouldn't have happened. She just gave me a slight "you got that right" look and nodded her head. His wife, who coached my daughter, also worked at the Atlanta Olympics.
