Prayer, please

Postby LibraryLady2 » Wed Dec 21, 2016 11:06 pm

My 17 year old grand nephew has been admitted into ICU with low sodium.
He is delirious and needing to be restrained. There is concern about brain swelling.
Jack would appreciate any prayers or good thoughts sent his way.

Oh Librarylady, of course I'll pray for Jack and your family. Please let us know how he's doing when you can.

Still in ICU.
However, he is better this AM. He was able to answer questions correctly (names, location etc.) so the IV drips are helping.
Of course we are hoping he gets out in time for Christmas.

That sounds promising, Librarylady. It's kind of crazy, for this old nurse, that someone can be in ICU and be discharged in a day or two. But it does happen. I hope they find the cause before he is discharged though. Prayers continue.......

Friday update:
IF he continues to improve, he MAY get out of ICU and into a room. No talk on going home at this point.
Dr. still testing ideas on how he got in this mess.

Thanks for your support.

As an aside to this...This nephew lives in Kansas. Plan was to come to WF for Christmas. Any gifts that this family ordered, they had shipped directly to Grandmother's home in WF (as did the family who lives in Virginia). When Jack was put in the hospital, his cousins and aunt/uncle were driving cross country to WF. They detoured to Kansas. My sister, who lives in WF, flew up to Kansas to be with them....Plan is now that those who can travel will go to WF for Christmas day and return to Kansas on 26 or 27th. Jack's parents are staying with him and his 8 year old sister will go with Grandmother to get her gifts. :) The 4 kids under age 12 are happy to get out of hotel I am sure.

Jack ate 2 tacos, an apple, peanut butter and drank a big bottle of water this afternoon.
Sounds like he is on his way to recovery.

Ahhh, that's great! Now I hope they find out what happened so it doesn't ever happen again. If it takes staying in the hospital, well that mystery needs solved. It's so great that the whole family pitched in to help out the parents and give the siblings a Christmas. That's exactly what families should do.

No update yet this AM. I am waiting until I get a note as I don't want to be the one who calls AGAIN.

Side note: (It pays to have wealthy relatives. My BIL has wealthy cousin who used the family jet to get my sister up to Kansas.) Yesterday they were bringing her home and 3 grandchildren flew with her. Mother of the hospitalized teenager got on plane to hug her 8 year old daughter and had tears in her eyes. Little cousin, age 6, said, "Don't worry Aunt M, Nana knows how to make a good Christmas." :D

They came home safely and will drive back after Christmas.

Jack is leaving ICU for a regular hospital room today!!

His teenage appetite is kicking in! Good sign!
