Guess what Ted Cruz did

Postby Sangersteve » Tue Jan 03, 2017 9:46 pm

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Florida Rep. Ron DeSantis introduced a constitutional amendment on Tuesday that would impose term limits on members of Congress, following through on their December announcement about the proposal.

“D.C. is broken,” Cruz said in a statement Tuesday evening. “The American people resoundingly agreed on Election Day, and President-elect Donald Trump has committed to putting government back to work for the American people. It is well past time to put an end to the cronyism and deceit that has transformed Washington into a graveyard of good intentions.”

The proposal would limit senators to two terms (12 years total) and representatives to three terms (six years total). President-elect Trump campaigned on reining in Congress by implementing term limits, though it is unclear if the incoming administration has been involved in the proposal, which comes during Congress’ first week in session this year.

Do you think it has an ice cube's chance of passing?

I can't see all those who will have to leave DC ever voting yes on it. I think it is a good idea, but I doubt it has a chance of passing both houses.

I would love to see it pass. Since Sen Cruz is involved, it concerns me.

Given the opportunity, I believe it would sail through three quarters of the states in nothing flat.

The problem is that we'll never get two thirds of both houses to agree to it.

It will need to be done in an article V convention of the states.

There may be some earthquake or a tilt of the earth's axis over this!

Now that I've said this all of the rightys will be changing their minds. "What, a liberal agrees with term limits? I guess I need to change my position!!! This CAN'T be right!"

Their heads are exploding. Which is not necessarily a bad thing.

Bwahahaha!

Quite the contrary..we rather enjoy your occasional lurching uncontrollably into the truth.

Term limits is something I've not cared much about either way.

There are so many more important issues to be spending time on. The voters can limit a candidate's terms if they want. If they could get through Congress an amendment removing birthright citizenship it would sail to confirmation.

Ha! You guys want to talk truth? Lord help me. You may disagree with me but I defy you to cite ONE thing I've ever said on this board that is not truthful.

How does a grown American, that's not a goofy college kid that has no idea what this country is about or how it works..come to the conclusion that we need to be led by a socialist.

Easy. Through the years I've learned the difference between truth and bullshit, between ideology and practicality, and between what's good for me as an individual and what's good for all people. I've learned that what's good for the working class is also what's good for America. I've learned that if you don't hold big business accountable for their actions they will take advantage of their position at every turn. I've learned that politicians will start wars for no reason, and are actually able to convince gullible citizens that there IS a reason.

It's hard. It takes a lot of soul searching and a lot of realization and a lot of maturity. It takes coming to terms with the fact that you were taken in. Nobody wants to feel that they've been duped.

Unfortunately, many grown people, who should know better, never come to that realization.

I didn't say you were lying..never have called you a liar.

I said that..what you said is not true.

To be a liar you would have to have known they are not true..you didn't.

Like Ronald Reagan said.."it's not that liberals don't know things..it's that so much of what they know is not true."

Isn't the working class firmly with Trump?

Like I said. Name ONE thing I said that's not the truth. You can't do it.
I realize you're not used to having people disagree with you, and it probably comes as a shock to you when sonebody calls you out on your bullshit (why else would you stick only to a discussion board that agrees with your agenda?) Just come up with one thing that I have posted that you can demonstrably prove is not truthful.
