The perils of owning an Echo device
“A reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.” -- Jojen Reed
Re: The perils of owning an Echo device
That was a good read. Internet-based devices and appliances are a big 'aw heck no' for me. That goes for doorbells, refrigerators, light bulbs, and the like.
How about this sentence from the article: "The FBI, for one, would neither confirm nor deny wiretapping Amazon Echo devices when Gizmodo asked the agency about it last year."
I am starting to see sales pitches for smart devices at the school where I work. It's easy for me to say no to these vendors, but it's much more difficult when someone falls for a sales pitch and then is told, "get your IT guy to hook it up for you." This is even more difficult when those people having firing power.
I get the feeling that people like me who don't like this sort of thing are in the minority.
