Who here is on well water?
Who here is on well water?
Mine has a terrible odor, we don't drink or cook with it, only bathe in it.

Back before Ray Roberts, Sanger was all well water, really good flavor and soft as a babies butt, alas no more.
In Corinth we had two wells, one artisan and one iron water. That iron water well had the best taste, but you only used it in the house if the other well went down.It would turn a bathtub red in one use.

Re: Who here is on well water?
We just bought some land here, and have been living here a couple months, and my water smells bad. Looking into some sorta filtration system.

My first choice for filtration would be RO

Filter or dig a deeper well that will hit another aquifer.

Re: Who here is on well water?
What is the smell? Usually iron or sulfur is the problem, both can be filtered out.
Re: Who here is on well water?
We live about 45 miles south of Ft Worth. Out here the shallow water table is hard, sulphur smelling and tastes the same. A few hundred feet deeper the water is soft and good tasting.
You might want to talk to some of your neighbors and consider getting a new well drilled.

Doesn't really smell like iron or sulfur, just kinda funky.

Re: Who here is on well water?
Is there a chance the seal at the top of the well has let some critter crawl down the well and expire? Odd tastes don't start over night usually. Is the taste at the well the same as in the house? An old pipe may be some of the deal.

I doubt it, it's only a two inch pipe where the pump in on it, not sure how deep it is.
Re: Who here is on well water?
A 2 inch pipe says there is sucker rod in the pipe and some sort of force barrel or water is pumped higher and gravity flows. Water table may have dropped and intake is on the bottom of the well and sucking in a little foreign material of some sort. Just guessing

You might be right, I know nothing about wells, I need to post a couple of pics to show what I got. Pressure is good, have a 50 gallon holding tank, but stinky water.
Re: Who here is on well water?
I am. I wash and flush only with it!
Re: Who here is on well water?
Have you ever bleached the well? You can pour 1/2 to 1 gallon into it from the top, and then flush it for a good while by running it through a hose outlet. I was told to do that with mine when it was first drilled and have done it a few times since when the water gets funky. It does clear things up.
Re: Who here is on well water?
I have a well here. Not realy a smell, but I do filter it to drink or cook.
