I am still going with the pilot losing consciousness as the simplest and likeliest explanation. From what has been revealed it was by pure chance that he was alone in the cockpit in the first place.

If he lost consciousness would that explain his calm breathing rate ?

I hadn't read the most recent news reports when I posted my last. If they are accurate the French authorities have already flatly stated it was deliberate and the company seems to accept it.

I liked the old days better, when a very large percentage of the Airline Pilots were Ex-Military Piolts.

and probably a pretty homogeneous white bread type of guy at that time I'd suppose RedOak . Course , I don't fly often , probably never will fly again .
