I don't know when I saw GWTW, but I think it was the first rerelease when it came out in cinamascope. It was impressive! Probably, the most amazing film I ever saw. Since it was filmed at the end of the depression, the cost was low. There's no way it could be remade with the same quality, it would be way too expensive. Now, we only have crappy little movies that don't cost much to make.
As strong as the impression it made on me I wouldn't see it again. Reason is the movie seriously distorted the history of what happened. In short the wrong side won.
