So last week we got a call from the fraud department from our credit card provider at about 10 pm. Were we shopping at Walmart. Nope.
So they killed the card. Cool.
At 11:30 pm Donna's phone rings again.
Denton police detective says that they have arrested a guy at Walmart for shoplifting.
Says when they searched him he had my credit card in his pocket.
I told him about the fraud call.
When asked why he had that credit card
He said I was a business partner, his wife then provided a phone number to contact me to verify.
Well the number didn't answer, so the cop finds the emergency number from my drivers license, Donna's phone.
Did I give him the card? Nope. Are you in business with Edwin? Nope. Do I want to press charges? Yup.
The detective has been very through about keeping me informed about what is happening.
Just got a call they are enhancing the charges to include credit abuse of a senior citizen.
I finally asked about why they are pushing this so much.
The cop just sighed and said this is Denton, not Dallas we don't tolerate theft.
This is Denton

I'm not following this part. How did the cop have your drivers license? Was he able to look it up using only your name?
We've always had really good luck with Chase. They always catch the fraud and contact us before we notice it.
Advice to all: Retire your credit cards often and replace them with a new number. I recommend at least once per year.

I asked him how he got her number.
My last name is unique, my card includes my middle initial. Paired with a Sanger address it was easy when he did a DL search.
