My kids live in Rockwall. The education establishment there was asking for nearly a billion dollars of new debt yesterday...
All of it went down in flames.

Re: In other ballot news...
I just read that voters in Frisco ISD rejected one BILLION dollars of new debt.
These assholes that run these school districts have a lot of nerve.

Re: In other ballot news...
Because of the Texas Republicans we have a significant shortfall going to school districts. They don’t have the deep pockets and the ability to provide kickbacks to politicians like the voucher people do.
So, would you rather give your tax dollars to the voucher people or actually support the Texas Constitution?

The pro Bond PACs are generally funded by the vendors and ancillary business interests. It is an industry in Texas.
These same vendors generally finance the school board candidates, that propose the bond debt.
The problem with money in Texas, is not the lack of it, but where it is spent. Not enough goes to education or instruction.
As to the Texas Constitution, requires the following:
Sec. 1. SUPPORT AND MAINTENANCE OF SYSTEM OF PUBLIC FREE SCHOOLS. A general diffusion of knowledge being essential to the preservation of the liberties and rights of the people, it shall be the duty of the Legislature of the State to establish and make suitable provision for the support and maintenance of an efficient system of public free schools.
Of all the things the Government Schools are in Texas; efficiency is not on the list.

How efficient can they be with all of the state interference?

Now back to the Rockwell ISD Bonds, and the PACs that promoted them, here is a link, take a look at the contributors.

Gee, what possible benefits do they get from it? Hmmmm, I wonder.
I feel like I'm parked diagonally in a parallel universe.

Construction companies? What's your point? Did you think it would be voucher proponents? Let's look at those contributions, and how much of that is going into Abbott's pocket.

The more the state gets involved in the area of public education, the worse it gets. Keep the politicians out of educations and let the teachers teach.
Re: In other ballot news...
The Pubbie Education Establishment is in on the ISD grift almost as bad as the Rats. But as you can see the PACs that pushed the Rockwall and Frisco School Bonds are not voucher advocates; but entities that stand to directly benefit from the construction of more Government School Taj Mahals.
