Frisco lost the battle but won the war. A few minutes after Francisco Mendoza surrendered a game-tying homer in the 9th, Midland fell to San Antonio and handed the first-half division title to the Riders.
Joey Gallo drove in Frisco's runs with his fourth homer in five AA games and singled. Gallo is already tied for sixth on the squad in homers. 2B Odubel Herrera (.310/.343/.410) was 3-5. Three hitters donned golden sombreros -- Trever Adams, Drew Robinson and Jake Skole.
