Here in Plano we just get squirrels and rabbits mostly. Some people see coyotes usually at night when they come out of the creek by the golf course and probably eat the rabbits. Cats also disappear. It's not legal to let them run loose.

I've seen more than 1 squished possum - skunks too - in Sulphur Springs. Near Miller Grove it's more like dead cows and coyotes on the side of the road. A couple of months ago a guy took out 3 cows in a single hit.
Working to love my fellow person regardless : >

Twice here I have seen large possums running through the middle of town in broad daylight.

I live near the river bottoms in South Irving and see my share of critters in the road including possums. Also saw a dead feral hog in the median. Yikes.

I moved to Plano in 1968, we saw, all the time, coyotes, armadillo, possum, racoon, feral pigs,an ocassional Lynx, and lots of rat snakes. Plano was a farming community shortly before we moved there with a lot of barns for hay storage, etc, which brought rodents which brought rat snakes.
*For any old timers of Plano, remember the only place to eat a burger in town ? Dude's on Hwy 5.

Never ate possum.
I ate dog and didn't know it when I was stationed overseas. I also ate horse once and knew it.

I think the guy was several sheets to the wind when he hit the cows. I think it did ruin the cow's days though.

My Great Grand Mother was a lot like Granny Clampett
I had them roasted in a pan, with sweet potatoes mostly.
The thing with opossum is that you catch it, pen it up and fatten it up on corn for a week or two before you process it.

At an Indian reservation in southern NM I have eaten, dog, horse and mule. The mule was the best of the three.
