Our local cable provider just required us to switch to HD TV; as part of that switch, we were able to get a package that includes obscure channels that actually carry Purdue football. Now that I have those channels, what is the best way to record such events. Hint, we just unhooked the VCR as part of this upgrade...
What kind of technology is required to record games; possibly in or to a format where we could make DVDs of his drives?
Daughter's games are streamed on the internet, so we are also looking at the possibility of upgrading to a TV with wifi capabilities; would we be able to record her matches as well?

You didn't get a DVR box from them?
It's a joke son,I say a joke
Re: Help for the technologically impaired...
I have a Time Warner set top box connected for HDTV and I still record to a VCR.
You should check with your cable provider and see what they would charge you for a DVR. You can also buy them at electronics stores.

Most cable boxes and DVRs have the standard red/white/yellow outputs as well as component and HDMI.Just connect as you Did before.
Re: Help for the technologically impaired...
Most also have a coax out too.

DVR is the way to go because once you get used to the HD picture, VCR video looks HORRIBLE!

Does anyone have FiOS? I just got an offer $79.99 plus taxes and fees for TV, only the channels I want, 25/25Mbps internet and home phone with unliminted national calling. No annual contract and 2 yr price guarantee.
If I sign a 2 year agreement they will also give me a $350 VISA card and all premium channels for 12 months.
Sounds pretty good. I have Time Warner now.

FIOS TV signal arrives before it does on sat.
