Re: What I was doing in Indianapolis
It's been quite a summer for us. The day after his high school graduation I was driving him to Denver to join his corps. And then this weekend I drove to Indy to pick him up and bring him home. Now he has to be in Commerce on Wednesday to move into the dorm and start freshman band camp.
Re: What I was doing in Indianapolis
Do you mind telling us what instrument your son plays.
Re: What I was doing in Indianapolis
He plays flute and piccolo, but his function in Blue Knights was color guard.

Are they giving us the finger in that last photo?
If you’re “woke”..you’re a loser.
Re: What I was doing in Indianapolis
I'll reserve comment for when you post a picture of one of your performances.

I am definitely not a "performer."
..but..still plenty to laugh at I'm sure.

True that. GfB is a musician, not a performer. The spotlight is, literally and figuratively, elsewhere.

Very cool, BT. It's amazing what those kids are able to put together in just a couple of months. How much are tickets now? My son and d-I-l met when the were feature performers together in the Phantom Regiment in 2006 ("Faust"). They live in Indianapolis now, but they mentioned a couple of years ago that the tickets were just too expensive (they couldn't go this year anyway; their dance company had performances).
I know you are very proud.
BTW, if you ever visit the DCI headquarters there in Indy, ask them to show you a picture of the girl from "Faust"; they have several featured prominently.

Re: What I was doing in Indianapolis
I was on the fifth level staring right at the end zone. My ticket was $85. I think the premium seats were $145. Phantom Regiment was the Blue Knights' nemesis this year. They swapped seventh and eighth place all season. Blue Knights was ahead of them going into the finals but Phantom Regiment edged them out for seventh place. My son said one of the judges had a thing for Phantom Regiment and gave them some extra points they didn't deserve.
