I'll admit, I haven't followed this story except to see the constant rioting and looting. Last night I heard that the people arrested for rioting/looting/throwing rockes and molotav coctails at the police were let go. If I were a police officer there, I would tell them "fine, let them burn your city".
Are police never to react to a crime again for fear someone may get shot?
I was in a jury pool the other day (Municipal court) and the prosecutor asked if anyone would give more or less weitght to a police officer's testimony. One man's hand shot up and he was more than happy to declare "LESS!". I wanted to stop him later and tell him "Don't you EVER call on a police officer if your house is getting broken into or if you're getting robbed." Are there "bad" cops, sure, but I think it's a very miniscule percent. I just don't get the hatred towards police officers and then the lack of support they get from their city or state. Shameful

Sorry, but I get it.
"If I were a police officer there, I would tell them "fine, let them burn your city"."
Yeah, that's what they did here..over 60 people ended up dead.

Re: Ferguson
So, we have police departments all over the country, especially in big cities like L.A. who oppose the average person from carrying a gun.
Then when the going gets tough..they all chicken out and leave that average person to face the criminals.
Cops shouln't carry guns..it just makes problems.
PEOPLE should carry the guns.

Re: Ferguson
The Looters/ Rioters are worthless Savages, and the guy that got shot was kinda thuggish it appears.
That being said, from what few details about the shooting I have heard, it looks as if this was a Police Murder or Negligent Homicide.

Often Poleece are just gang members in a nice uniform, not the majority perhaps, but certainly a significant number of them are. And the problem is getting worse.

Re: Ferguson
All I want to know is, why is the only response to a suspicious shooting looting and rioting? I can not seem to recall rioting and looting when the Dallas police shot the white guy last week.
At some point we have to admit the entitlement mentality and the race baiters have helped to create these situations.
What will happen if the facts prove that Mr.Brown did attack the officer and that officer was of color? Will the broken windows be magically repaired? Will the business owners merchandise re-appear? Will the QuickTrip be un-burned?
This garbage is the product of a group of people who will use any perceived injustice to steal and destroy rather than wait for facts.
The same questions apply if it was a bad shooting, nothing the sub humans have done will bring back the damage they have caused.

I have never understood, "Things didn't go my way--I'll loot and burn things." --and that goes for sports event looting/burning as well as police arrests.

Re: Ferguson
I've seen multiple places where black people wonder why the looters aren't rioting in the white neighborhoods, instead of tearing up their own.
Answer: they aren't greeted by a hail of gunfire in their own neighborhoods.

Re: Ferguson
Police did not intervene to stop the looters, instead holding their position in front of the main group of protesters. Regular citizens, however, began to stand in front of stores with broken doors and windows to prevent further looting. The individuals stealing from these businesses reportedly attacked or threatened journalists and bystanders who were videotaping them.

The "kinder, gentler" attitude didn't hold, did it? Yesterday all we heard was how well it worked the night before. Last night all hell broke loose and it wasn't the local PD's fault, was it?

ABC NEWS:
Anger spurred by the death of a black teenager at the hands of a white police officer boiled over again when protesters stormed into a Missouri convenience store — the same one Michael Brown was accused of robbing.
Police and about 200 protesters clashed in Ferguson, Missouri, late Friday after another tense day in the St. Louis suburb that began with authorities identifying the officer who fatally shot Brown as 28-year-old Darren Wilson. At the same time, Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson released documents alleging Brown had stolen a $48.99 box of cigars from the convenience store and strong-armed a man on his way out.
Just before midnight, some in what had been a large, rowdy but mostly peaceful crowd broke into that same small store, Ferguson Market & Liquor, and began looting it, Missouri State Highway Patrol Capt. Ron Johnson said. Some protesters yelled at the aggressors to stop what they were doing, and about a dozen people eventually helped protect the convenience store.
Teams of police officers holding rifles and dressed in riot gear used their cars to block a one-mile stretch of West Florissant Avenue, the street at the center of the protests. Occasional firecrackers sounded in the distance.
Some in the crowd began throwing rocks and other objects at police, Johnson said. One officer was hurt; details were not immediately available. Johnson said police backed off to try and ease the tension. No arrests were made.
"We had to evaluate the security of the officers there and also the rioters," Johnson said. "We just felt it was better to move back."
Johnson said he believed other stores were hit by looters. The crowd that had surrounded the convenience store dispersed but continued north. Two men in white undershirts threw debris through the windows of a liquor store and could be seen walking through the store as an alarm wailed.
Brown's death had previously ignited four days of clashes with furious protesters. Tensions eased Thursday after Gov. Jay Nixon turned oversight of the protests over to the Missouri Highway Patrol. Gone were the police in riot gear and armored vehicles, replaced by the new patrol commander who personally walked through the streets with demonstrators. But Friday night marked a resurgence of the unrest that had momentarily abated.
Local officers faced strong criticism earlier in the week for their use of tear gas and rubber bullets against protesters. Johnson said one tear gas canister was deployed Friday night after the group of rioters became unruly.
Jackson's decision to spell out the allegations that Brown committed the robbery, and his releasing of surveillance video, angered Brown's family and many in the community.
"They have attempted to taint the investigation," U.S. Rep. William Lacy Clay told protesters through a bullhorn Friday night. "They are trying to influence a jury pool by the stunt they pulled today."
Family attorney Daryl Parks acknowledged the man in the footage "appears to be" Brown. But he and others said Brown's family was blindsided by the allegations and release of the footage. They said that even if it was Brown, the crime didn't justify the shooting after Brown put up his hands in surrender, as witnesses describe.

Re: Ferguson
I watched some of this last night.
I think this whole mess in Fergeson is completely unnecessary. The police should just do their job. If people want to march and protest, let them this is America. You have that right. The job of the police is to protect people and property, not ride around in armored vehicles shooting tear gas all over the place.
