15 Dove and 39 Shells

Postby Red Oak » Mon Sep 01, 2014 8:50 pm

And it took about all day.

The rains last week moved the majority of the Doves out, so we had to scratch for them.

All in all a very good Day, sometimes the hard days are more rewarding than the easy Days

I got one "Scotch Double" !!!!! :)

I got 6 on an afternoon hunt. That wasn't too bad, wasn't many birds flying, I shot pretty well.

Birds were sparse at the spot I picked yesterday afternoon. 5 shots produced 2 birds using a new to me hammered side by side 12g. Son also got a few with it.
It's ok if you disagree with me.

Sure wish it was legal for you to hunt in my yard. You could get at least 2 dozen well fed dove....white wing and regular.... This flock could certainly be thinned!

I probably would ;)

A double in Wingshooting is two shots one following the other and bagging two birds, a Scotch Double is two birds with one shots

I told him I would not post bail if he fired a gun in the city limits.

Quoted for truth.

I saw about six birds all day and they were moving high and fast. You would have needed something radar guided to get those suckers. Hoping things pick up after we get our first good northerner blow in with some Kansas birds.

My friends on the North Plains tell me they are covered up with Doves, so maybe we will get some more.

J-I-P tell us about your Hammer Gun.
