Who thought I would ever care about A&M Commerce football?

Only because my son is in the band. Not to be outdone by Packers/Seahawks, they are playing their first game tonight against East Texas Baptist University. So I'm listening to the game online and I hear them call Joe Bergeron's name. Sure enough, after Bergeron got dismissed from UT he enrolled at A&M Commerce. And the Lions are kicking serious butt at the moment. It's 40-14 in the second quarter.

Go Lions! I was a freshman there the last year Harvey Martin played there. Is it still called the Lone Star Conference?

Yes. In fact, the Lone Star Conference will have an all day festival at Jerryworld on September 20. Four games. A&M Commerce/A&M Kingsville will kick-off at 10 am.

Big Tex, since you have some pull there now can you do something about changing the name back? When you're done there head up to Denton and talk to the folks at NTSU.

That's great Big Tex! I'm one of the old school (ETSU) also. I taught some courses there.

Of course, everybody thinks that as a UT alum I have a problem with supporting A&M Commerce. To me, A&M Commerce is no more A&M than UT Dallas is UT.
