El Fenix and Wichita Falls

Postby LibraryLady » Sun Sep 14, 2014 4:39 pm

from my sister:

El Fenix opened a restaurant here in Feb 2012. I have never thought it was as good as the ones in Dallas. It was okay. At first I thought it would improve--new location, very busy as everyone tried it out , etc. Then it seemed to go downhill, seemed like it was a fast food restaurant. In the last year it has hardly had any business. Ate there in Aug and it was better than it had been in April. John loves El Fenix so I usually only go there if he is here. Today the newspaper has a full page ad with 3 inch headlines that way "We're Sorry". Goes on to say they failed to provide WF with the same quality food and service that they were known for. Basically says please give us another chance. Tuesday all "plates" will come with a sopapilla and will cost 96cents . Starting on Wed and thorough Oct all plates will be $4.99. Ends with hope we can earn WF's respect again.

Interesting………………..

We ate at the downtown El Fenix a few months ago and felt the quality had declined.

Surprising to hear that. A friend will only eat at the EF downtown as he says that is the only one with good food.

The family sold out in the summer of 2009. That's when we finally got one in Irving. Some things have changed, but I still enjoy the food enough to eat there.

The food at EF is usually pretty good but it comes out so fast you wonder how long ago it was cooked and waiting to be ordered. I guess they don't want you sitting around eating the chips and dips for very long. Eat it, pay and get out so more can have your place.

I was raised on El Fenix Mexican food, for me it was the standard by which all other Mexican food restaurants were measured. I don't eat Mexican food much anymore because of health concerns, but the last few times I was at EF it had really gone downhill. And this was at three different locations, so I look at this as being a chain wide issue rather than just an individual location.

Is Pancho's Mexican Buffet still around?
They used to do a great community service by getting rid of all the stray dogs.

There's still one in Arlington close to Six Flags. I keep meaning to take the girls there...
