Not unlikely, if it was suicide by hanging.

It's unlikely unless the man was severely overweight.
It takes a drop of around 8' or 9' to decapitate a person of average weight.

We don't know the circumstances. He could have rammed his neck into a circle saw.

Saddam's half-brother was decapitated when he was hung.

Yes, but he was hanged from a scaffold, not from a residential ceiling.

I may be proven wrong, but I'll bet there has never been a documented case of a hanging inside a residence resulting in decapitation.
A person's head would have to be 15' or so above floor level for a clean drop of 8' or 9'.
It might be possible if a person weighed 300 or 400 lbs. I'll bet it's never happened.

The story is over a year old, what was the final outcome?

Maybe he was a Christian who converted to Islam and got real confused.

Reminds me of the old racist joke about the southern sheriff that investigated the discovery of a black man's body - his hands tied behind his back, wrapped in chains, stuffed in a tow-sack and submerged in a stock tank. He ruled it the worst case of suicide he'd ever seen.
Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore.

Back in the Billy Sol Estes era, a man in west Texas was shot 7 times with a rifle and it was called suicide.

This link came from FB, I'll have to browse around and see what was decided.

I have been unable to find a follow up story on this. Since no names were given, it makes it difficult to track down.

Couple of things. It's not so suspicious that his hands and feet were bound. I have seen pictures of one case where a man was able to complete wrap himself in duct tape, just like a mummy. He suffocated.

If someone helped him tie himself up and then departed the property before the deed was done, is it still suicide?

It would be homicide in Oklahoma. The law does not make any provision for assisted suicide.

It may have been in the book "A Texan looks at LBJ" ?

As I recall it was a bolt action Rifle.

I was writing about the OK event. I have read about the Texas event in more than one source.
The Texas event involved someone who was either involved with Billy Sol or it happened during the investigation of Billy Sol time period.

There was a suicide recently (I forget where) in which a man looped a chain around his neck, hooked the other end to a post, got into his car and hit the gas. Very effective.
