I haven't had the flu and can't remember the last time I had a cold. I HAVE had a flu shot every year. Perhaps you don't get out around anyone Planosteve, or have kids in and out all the time.

PlanoSteve says: Calling a disease that has yet to kill a single person in the whole country a "pandemic" is not logical or anything close to it. The idea of herding people flying into DFW into quaranteen rooms if they have an temperature is crazy. Whether it's Rick Perry saying it or anybody else.

So basically you are not responding to actual quotes from Perry, you just don't like him and are inventing words to fit your desire of what he would have said.

Perry never said "there is a pandemic". He laid out reasonable steps to avoid one from occurring when a highly dangerous, very contagious illness is laid upon our doorstep.

He recommended (a) having a panel of doctors get together to make recommendation of how to best control Ebola or any other disease that may become a pandemic. He recommended (b) federal health screening at all border entry points; not "herding people into a room" as you say. He recommended (c) streamlining medical response to stop the illness in its tracks instead of letting bureaucracy slow down the process.

Since you don't like these "crazy" ideas, one can presume that you (a) do not want to hear what top doctors\scientist say, (b) do not want to screen people entering the country (regardless of whether they come from a highly-infected country or not) and (c) you do not want to streamline the medical process to get aid to patients more quickly. Brilliant.

As far as your "Well, just don't get sick" approach is concerned, I learned a little about the immune system in 4th or 5th grade. You are not born with an antibody to every pathogen on earth. If you are exposed to bacterial\viral agents and infection occurs, your body attempts to use fever to hold the infection down while your antibodies try to formulate a response. Just having a "strong immune system" doesn't mean you can avoid all illness.

Two more nurses that cared for the two fatal Ebola cases in Spain have fevers and have been quarantined.
