G-S-I-L took a cull buck a little after dawn. Buck had a spike on left side and fork on the right. Good to get him out of the gene pool.
Back strap is going to go on the smoker for the evening meal.

Thanks. We srarted feeding for the bow site about 3 weeks ago. Filled the others yesterday and put
out game cameras. I am so glad fall is here.

Doesn't seem very sporting, feed the deer for a couple months just before season then kill them.
I guess that's the same thing they do to beef, chicken, Etc, but then there isn't a season or kill limit on them.
The last time I went deer hunting (40+ years ago) we actually walked the hills hunting for Deer on land we'd never been to before. Not perched in a tree at the feeding stand waiting for them to show up to eat.

Yes sir, I understand your point. Lots of folks feel the same way.

For me, it's more of an opportunity to spend time with family/friends than the hunting. I enjoy more of a "round-up" festival atmosphere, than a "stalk to eat" atmosphere.
Toto, we're not in Kansas anymore.

Hi Tom.
Marinade semi-equal parts of catsup, vinegar and worchester sauce. Salt, pepper, garlic powder and any other spice you prefer. Longer you can let it soak the better. Smoke very low a d slow.

Sounds mmmm, good....
Good for the GSIL; how old was he (the boy, not the buck)...
Re: 1st deer this season
My abbreviation was probably confusing. The young man that took the buck is
married to my oldest granddaughter. He took the deer with a bow. Regular open is still a couple of weeks away.
