Super Burgers

Postby BillB » Wed Oct 22, 2014 6:57 pm

A friend told me about how good one of Chili's new super burgers was.

My wife and I went there tonight to try it.
It had a lot of good sounding ingredients on it, bacon, fried onion rings..I can't remember what else.
It was about 5' tall. I found it awkward to eat. It was so tall I couldn't take a bite out of it. I had to nibble it away.
It came all to pieces about half way through. I didn't really enjoy it- too busy- too many components - too messy.
I'll take a Whataburger or a Whooper over it any day.

I do recommend Chili's new fresh made dill pickles. They're great.

I have never understood why the burger joints feel like they have to make every burger a too damn big to take a bite of burger. You watch the cooking shows on TV and they are all doing the same thing. There is no way to get it in your mouth for a complete bite and however you try to eat it, it falls apart in your plate before you are half done with it.

When it arrives at your table you look at it and it looks like a burger work of art yet you know eating it is going to be more of a task than fun and you wonder if the cook is back there watching you and laughing his as- off because he knows you can't eat that like you could if it was just a normal burger. I think they do it because they can make you wonder more about how to eat it than how it tastes. If they can make a great tasting burger its height probably isn't measured by a ruler.

Wife and I shared a double cheeseburger from Love Shack at the White Elephant last week and it was great. Haven't been to a Chilis in years

I wasn't going to say anything BUT I thought of how much everyone has told us "This is the best hamburger I've ever had." So, IF you go to the coast by way of Hwy 77 like we do, In Schulenberg right at the intersection of Hwy 77 and I 10, you'll see the Smokehouse. They do have a noon buffet, but it's their burgers and cheeseburgers that our friends thank us for suggesting it or if they're with us, for taking them there. The patties are handmade but so are the buns....their homemade buns are wonderful. As for the onion rings, they are also homemade. French fries? I can't remember because I've order the onion rings for years now. They may also be freshly peeled and fried. BTW, this is for Crocmom!

I don't care for those giant burgers, ruins the whole experience and is more than any human should eat at one time.
