Rangers vs. Indians

Postby BigTex » Fri Jun 06, 2014 7:41 pm

I thought when they moved to get out of the way of the ball they were supposed to take their stools with them.

Being an ex-Clevelander, LeBron was going to take in the game tonight.

Until he found out there was no air conditioning.

Great defensive play by Elvis - and his legs didn't cramp in the heat.

Choice HR bails out Darvish,
Texas tops Tribe 6-4

ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) Michael Choice hit a tiebreaking homer in the seventh inning after ace Yu Darvish blew a four-run lead and the Texas Rangers snapped the Cleveland's six-game winning streak with a 6-4 victory over the Indians on Friday night.

Choice, who had an RBI single in a four-run second, went the opposite way just over the right-field wall against Marc Rzepczynski (0-2) with two outs for a solo homer. The shot made a winner of Darvish (6-2) after the Japanese ace gave up a season-high nine hits in seven innings.

Texas reliever Jason Frasor got a nifty double play from Elvis Andrus in a scoreless eighth, and closer Joakim Soria had two strikeouts in the ninth for his 13th save.

Lonnie Chisenhall and Asdrubal Cabrera homered off Darvish to wipe out a 4-0 deficit, but the Indians followed a 6-0 homestand by starting a 10-game trip with their fifth straight road loss. They have the worst record in the majors away from home at 9-20.

That's the Rangers on U-verse channel 1652 and TCU on U-verse 1605. You're on your own with the rest of the channel providers.

Well Rangers-Indians sucked.

But Rangers-Kings was damned exciting.

Ankle surgery to cost Moreland three months

First baseman tried to hold off procedure, but pain was becoming too much

By Grace Raynor / MLB.com

ARLINGTON -- The Rangers can't seem to catch a break from injuries, and first baseman Mitch Moreland is the latest player to go down. General manager Jon Daniels announced Sunday morning that Moreland will have left ankle reconstruction surgery either Monday or Tuesday.

Daniels said that Moreland, who is batting .246, has likely been dealing with pain all season. Moreland had a few injections to help ease the pain, but ultimately they only provided short-term relief. He is expected to be sidelined for three months.

"He hasn't been as productive recently, and I think he's frustrated," Daniels said. "He came in and told the staff that he doesn't feel like it's getting better. The injections have stopped working, and he wants to get it addressed."

Moreland said he sprained the ankle while Texas was playing a series in Seattle, which caused additional swelling. He said the question all along wasn't if he'd have surgery, but rather when. Dr. John Crates will perform the surgery.

"There's no lower half … it's to the point where it's affecting me trying to go out and play," Moreland said. "I tried to fight it off until the end of the year. I knew I was going to have to have surgery. They told me you can do everything you can to try to get to the end of the year. I can't do it anymore."

Gallo, Gonzalez promoted to Double-A Frisco

MLB.com

ARLINGTON -- Two of the Rangers' top prospects have been promoted.

Joey Gallo (ranked as the organization's No. 4 prospect by MLB.com) and Alex "Chi Chi" Gonzalez (No. 6) have both been moved to Double-A Frisco from Class A Advanced Myrtle Beach.

Neither is expected to play Sunday night in Frisco, but Gallo has officially been added to the roster. Gonzalez could make his first start as early as Tuesday.

Gallo, a 20-year-old third baseman, leads the Minor Leagues in home runs with 21 and is batting .323 with 50 RBIs. Gonzalez, a pitcher, was the Rangers' top pick in the 2013 First-Year Player Draft. In Myrtle Beach, he went 5-2 in 11 starts with a 2.62 ERA.

ARLINGTON -- Rangers second baseman Rougned Odor exited Sunday's game against the Indians in the fifth inning with a right shoulder sprain and is listed as day to day.

After hitting a leadoff single in the fifth, Odor hurt his shoulder as he attempted to slide back into first on a throw from catcher Yan Gomes. He will undergo further examination on Monday.
