How Hitler Could Have Won WWII

Postby BillB » Sun Jun 08, 2014 11:31 am

"How Hitler Could Have Won WWII" is a book by Bevin Alexander outlining a winning strategy for Nazi Germany in WWII.

To make it brief:

After the fall of France in June, 1940, Hitler should have ignored England and immediately concentrated on the Mediterranean and Middle East.
He could easily have swept across North Africa, seized the Suez Canal, Palestine, Iraq and Iran and Turkey.
He would have met little opposition.
This would have given Hitler the supplies of oil he needed while denying oil to the British.
More important, it would have knocked England out of the war by denying it access to the Mediterranean and the raw materials of war from it's South Asian colonies- tin, rubber and vast quantities of food, primarily.

Germany would then have had massive, intact armies poised to take the Russia's Caucasus oil fields. The Red Army was totally unprepared at this time and Stalin would have had no choice but to meet any demands made by Hitler.

This exact strategy was advocated by Adm. Erich Raeder - Chief of the German Navy. Hitler rejected it in favor of a continental war urged by the rest of his military staff.

For me, not a concept worth considering.

I'm just glad they lost..and that Japan did, too..and that eventually the Soviets were effectively defeated as well.

..and I'm also thankful that..70 years after my father was fighting them, often up close and personal, Germany is one of the greatest places on earth..to live or visit..and is home to some of the nicest people found anywhere.

I've never been there although I have known Germans.
I worked with a former German POW who was interned at Camp Wolters (I think it was). When the war was over he managed to stay here.
He wasn't a nice guy. I knew him in the mid 1970s and he was still a rabid Nazi although he kept quiet about it unless he got to know you.
"Hitler wasn't a bad guy. He gave Germans jobs. The Jews were the problem. The Holocaust is a lie. No Jews were killed other than spies and saboteurs. Jews and Masons run the US...ETC'

I'm sure he isn't representative of Germans now.

I knew another former POW that refinished furniture. I don't know what he thought. He didn't talk a lot. He did excellent work.

I lived in Germany for 4 years in the 80's. My employees were all Germans who were in the military during the war except for a couple of Turks. They were pretty hard headed. When they took vacation they almost always went to Italy. It was the only place they felt that welcomed them.

Argentina is another well known travel destination for Germans.

Some of the Germans who were POW's were sent to the US where they worked harvesting crops. They were a lot more pro American than the others.

You guys are living in the very distant past.

The FIRST time I went to Germany was in the mid 1980s..everything has changed, and the people that you speak of that went to South America and were uncomfortable with Americans..are all dead.

Germans love Americans. They are very friendly and welcoming to us..more than most countries.

They were back then too. My point was that the Germans didn't feel welcomed in other countries, so they stayed out of them.

The two Germans I was talking about were POWs here in Texas.

A lot of Germans had reason to be anti American. When the German Armies surrendered to Eisenhower, he treated them brutally for no reason.
He left them out in the open penned in by barbed wire without clothing, shelter and only enough food to barely keep them alive. It was Spring and still cold. Many of them died from maltreatment. He had more than enough clothing and rations for them, but he ordered it not be given to them.

From all I've heard, the POWs over here were very well treated.
