Roach Coach

Postby BillB » Sun Dec 28, 2014 1:25 pm

Has anyone ever owned a roach coach?
Is there any money in them?
I'm considering it.

If you do it, you will not use that name, will you? What will you serve?

No, I probably won't use that name. I'm sure my customers will, though. Everyone I know calls them that.
Cokes, coffee, sandwiches, etc. I might deal out homemade chili in Styrofoam cups.

Have never owned one but I have bought food and drinks from one - back in the early 90s. I have no complaints.
My sis says there is at least one that roams her neighborhood in Austin stopping at all the houses under construction. It seems to do a booming business. It sells Mexican food. She would love to try it but her dietary restrictions (she's unable to eat carbs) will not allow it.
Working to love my fellow person regardless : >

Be sure to check with the local health dept. about what is required. They usually have handouts explaining what is required for cleaning and the proper design of the vehicle depending on what level of service you plan to provide.

A high school classmate & her husband lost their restaurant in the Joplin tornado. Rather than rebuild, they bought a catering truck to their specs. As far as I know, they're doing alright with it. Attached is a photo of it from her Facebook page.

They are getting popular. I know Dallas has a lot of them. We have a "picnic" at our church at the start of a new Sunday school year. About 5 of them are invited. They all have different types of food. It's a lot of fun.

Go down to Kyle Park in Dallas during the lunch hour any weekday. I think you will learn a lot, possibly both pro and con to opening your own. There's a plethra of info, as you already know, on the web. Good Luck and Bon Appetit.
