Finale of the TCU-Pepperdine series on RIGHT NOW

Postby Bob Of Burleson » Mon Jun 09, 2014 3:51 pm

It's Channel 1606 on AT&T U-verse and the score is 3-1 Pepperdine in the second. Winner goes to the College World Series and the loser eats dirt.

Omaha bound!

TCU stages late rally to claim CWS berth

TCU took its final turn on the road back to Omaha Monday.

The Horned Frogs scored two runs in the top of the ninth, including the go-ahead run on a suicide squeeze, to beat Pepperdine in a 6-5 thriller Monday afternoon.

Garrett Crain and Jerrick Suiter led off the top of the ninth with singles and TCU trailing Pepperdine 5-4. Dylan Fitzgerald’s double to the right-field corner scored Crain to tie it and Suiter gave the Frogs the lead when he came home from third on Kyle Bacak’s suicide squeeze bunt. Riley Ferrell closed the game after coming in in the eighth to give TCU the win in the Game 3 finale. Ferrell earned the win to improve to 2-1.

TCU (47-16) returns to Omaha for the second time. The Frogs lone previous appearance was in 2010. They’ll join Big 12 brothers Texas and Texas Tech at the CWS. It’s the most teams from Texas to earn CWS berths in one season.

Pepperdine (43-18) took a 5-4 lead with a run in the bottom of the eighth after Bryan Langlois led-off with a single and Aaron Brown doubled off the center field wall. TCU brought in closer Riley Ferrell to face Brad Anderson, who drove in Langlois with the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly to right.

Good to see TCU do well. Somewhere up above, Emily is smiling....
