insomnia is an evil lady

Postby grouchy » Sat Feb 07, 2015 3:04 am

I am glad she doesn't come around all the time.

I hate it too. However, I've had it all my life. Seems it gets worse as we age. :(

I pass out pretty easy....kids will do that to you. I have trouble staying asleep and wake up two to three times a night. Sometimes I just lay there thinking about everything I need to get done which doesn't help.

I do that, too. I'll wake up sometimes and can't go back to sleep.
I read once not to worry about it. Just laying there gives you more rest that you realize, so I don't let it bother me. I usually feel pretty good the next day.

Keep a half a glass of wine by your bedside. When you find yourself awake for more than a few minutes..toss it down..white wine is the best as it is more refreshing.

..surprisingly tasty at 2 or 3 am.
If you’re “woke”..you’re a loser.

That's why I love my Kindle. I can read in the middle of the night without turning on the bedside lamp. For me brain churns aren't conducive to going back to sleep but reading works............unless it's one of those nail biter books.

I usually have to get out of bed @3 each morning. I also sit by the bed and
read with my kindle.

Smirnoff before bedtime puts insomnia in her place.

Yeah, that. Although my husband is going through a spell of just the opposite.... sleepy at 9:30, out by 9:35, and gets up when I do by the alarm at 5:45. I'm seriously jealous.

I would be too...........and I am.

Bob stays up later than I and sleeps as late as he wishes except on certain days. I have a diabetic dog who must have his injection at 7 a.m. and must eat before the injection. So, no matter how rough the night I have to be up no later than 6. I've resorted to napping (ah, the joys of working from home) to make up for all the missed sleep during the night.

I am housetraining the dog we just adopted. Guess who gets to be sure he goes out first thing in the morning? And I need to stand there and watch to be sure he does something at least for now. Then he gets a cookie and goes back to bed.

The housebreaking thing is the pits but thank goodness doesn't seem to take too many months. Glad to hear you got a new dog. How is he doing with the cat?

Buddy is very interested in my 15 year old Siamese. Blue just wants to be left alone, but he is very laid back and takes it from Buddy until he's had enough. Then he gives Buddy a good swipe, but Blue has no claws. At least Blue hasn't decided to get back at me like cats will do. He is the best cat I've ever had in that respect.
