Huh? Strange, I thought the marriage contract was a pledge to and with God to love, protect, honor, lift up, and care for the other till death.
A civil marriage is a legal contract, without religion having anything to do with it.

God ordained the entire concept of marriage loooooooooooooong before government intervened. Without that commitment the marriage is, in my opinion, meaningless............which may have a lot to do with why so many people treat it as such.

I think it could be argued that government was the first step down slope as far as marriage is concerned. Yet another thing government does not do well. :)

But hasn't the entire concept of extending marriage to gay people come from government?

Do you think it came from God?

Yes, and in their endless pursuit of swallowing up freedoms and defining deviancy down..why did you climb onto their freight train here?

I don't understand what you are saying and wonder if you comment/question is truly as crass as I read it.

Not sure what you're calling crass. I am simply calling attention to the fact that you acknowledge how government ruins everything..and I am now identifying how it has made marriage just something else to fight about politically.

Yes..it's ruined marriage.

I find it odd that many say same sex ruins marriage but never say multiple divorces and multiple marriages harm the concept.

I think 2 people promising to stay together and love one another is a good thing. (sure beats multiple partners and one night stands)

I also think that a bad marriage should be ended in divorce (lest you think I oppose divorce).

I think more people should give serious thought to a marriage before making the promises that they don't really plan to keep for very long.

I don't think multiple divorces ruins marriage..but it does a number on all those involved directly.

And witnessing all of that actually STRENGTHENS marriages...the rest of us see the path of destruction from divorce.

And I don't disagree with that, but don't you think that will be exponentially more important in the case of gay men?

God bless you, LL. You are exactly on track................far as I'm concerned. Some think they are the chosen because they are "heterosexual" thouth they may dishonor all the tenants of marriage and fidelity..........hell, and decency. We are told all sins are equal in God's eyes. So those who believe homosexuality is a sin need to look deeply at their own lives. Once they are found sinless................they still don't have the right to call sin on others. We all need to deal with our own shortcomings and leave all else to God who knows and loves far beyond what we mere mortals can comprehend.

Has someone here portrayed being gay as a sin?
If so, I missed it.

Exactly what God ordained Homosexual Marriage ?

Not Jehovah, not Allah, not Buddha, and not Krishna. - as far as I know, unless some one came up with some new scriptures.

I am more familiar with the Bible, apocrapha and pseudo-apocrapha etc. And I don't recall any same sex 'marriage'.

Balderdash, we may not have a right to pronounce it as sin, but we have the right to believe religious and moral teachings that pronounce it a sin.....at least until that is outlawed.

I sin, daily, but I don't try and fool myself that my short comings are not sins.

The Bible of Christians and Jews describes divorce, but I must have missed the verse on homosexual Marriage.

I also believe that multiple divorces make a mockery of marriage, and I believe in divorce.

The Apocryphal books of the Christian Bible are considered canonical by Catholics and non-Canonical by Protestants, in general. The pseudo-apocryphal are sort of hinky writings that are not considered legit by most Christian theologians.

Everyone..pretty much the world over..knew what "marriage" was..and what the word meant..for centuries.

That's all gone now..the word has no meaning.
