Neither..Jimmy played the sax and brother Tommy played trombone..I think this one played lead cowbell.

She didn't sing for many years. Married a trombonist named Sillaway and raised her children. She lived into her 90's and died here in Dallas about 6 or 8 years ago. She has a son, Dor, who lives in Frisco.
I never met her but met her son at her funeral.

Yes, he is gone. Forgive the Assholes here and their stupid replies. Jerry did a tribute on The Car Pro Show today that was as fitting as any.

Thanks, Dancer! It gets really DUMB on here at times. A hold-over from Dallas Digest.

I think you guys are a little over the top.
..you can have a sense of humor..even if someone much of the world has never heard of..has died.
And yes, the Dorsey name harkens solely to a world famous family of musicians for some of us..no one else.

Didn't mean to hijack the thread. But, it was just kind of lying there.. looking forelorn. So...
Maybe it was Terry that played clarinet.

Agreed.
I'd heard of Terry Dorsey but never listened to his radio program.

Any of you ever think of looking it up if you don't know him instead of joking around. I guess it was because he wasn't a politician so no one had much to say. I never listened to his show either but knew very well who he was.
Here is some information. The guy is only the the radio hall of fame.

Terry Dorsey, a longtime voice on North Texas airwaves, made friends of everyone he met and won numerous awards over his 46-year career before retiring in December.
The 66-year-old country music radio host died unexpectedly Saturday night at his home outside Peoria, Ill.
Mark “Hawkeye” Louis, Dorsey’s friend and host of Hawkeye and Dorsey in the Morning on KSCS-FM (96.3), said Dorsey had not been feeling well in recent days.
Louis met Dorsey in 1988 when, at 26, he was hired to be the sidekick of the 39-year-old radio host.
“He gave a lot of people their start in their career, gave a lot of people their big break, including mine,” Louis said. “He taught me that you have to let other people shine; you don’t have to be the only person that shines. It makes the show better.”
Dorsey graduated from high school in Cincinnati and learned how to be a broadcaster in New York City before he was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War. Dorsey, a combat engineer whose job was to clear landmines, was later instrumental in establishing the Texas Vietnam Veterans Memorial in Fair Park, Louis said.
Dorsey began spinning country records in 1977 after landing a gig in Dayton, Ohio. He moved to Dallas in 1980 and worked for KPLX-FM (99.5) before moving to KSCS in 1988.
In their 26 years of working together, Louis and Dorsey had only one fight, a testament to the veteran host’s easygoing nature.
“It was over eggs at Denny’s,” Louis said. “He just kept sending them back. I said, ‘Would you just eat the eggs?’”
In the 1980s, Dorsey had a signature bit that later became nationally syndicated. He would do outlandish commercials for Hiney Wine, a fake wine in a pop-top can.

Re: Terry Dorsey
I remember the Hiney Wine commercials. They were a scream. I didn't know who did them. Guess they must have been played on other radio stations too.

Thanks for that. I guess we're just meanies for spoiling their fun.
Re: Terry Dorsey
I think their "fun" is the same garbage that eventually killed DD. Some of the threads there would run for many pages having absolutely nothing to do with the original topic subject. That doesn't seem to happen on the new FB DD.
If you don't know anything about the topic don't embarrass yourself by opening your mouth. (Or buy writing your thoughts down.)

I thought about posting there yesterday but never listened to his show and was hoping someone who was more of a fan would post something. And I know there must have been someone who knew or listened to him...but no response. Maybe some of those folks might reply on Monday. Just seems to me like if it isn't controversial here it's less like to get a response. Bu your opinion may vary as someone we all know would say...

This is a good place. I finally signed up on Facebook and still for the life of me can't understand what the big deal is with it. I keep getting friend requests from people I have never heard of. I can't figure out how to join The DD Page. Probably better off anyway.
