Not that you asked for advice and you can do with the info as you will but, as a recovering horticulturalist, I will tell you that you are watering too much. Too much water encourages shallow root growth which isn't good for your grass. An inch a week is plenty.
The greedy rich in Austin think they are above water restrictions so have dug their own wells in order to keep their yards green. I think it's incredibly selfish but there is no law against it. My X SOB B-I-L and his wife have just such a well right smack dab in the middle of town.
I've heard those arguments before..I even had e-mails back and forth with City Council members who said I'm watering too much.
I told them to send a photo of their lawn, and I would send them one of mine..and we'll see who's watering plan works better..they surrendered.
You may be a horticulture expert, but I have the proof..and I suspect life here in the desert is quite different from where you live..and that grass types are different as well. I have the best lawn in the neighborhood, and very envious neighbors who continually comment how great mine is..and it looks it's best from February to June.
If you’re “woke”..you’re a loser.
