REWILDING of parts of the USA is happening in some peoples opinions and is a big topic in certain parts of the country . It is a big topic where I live there has been a push for at least the last 10 years to cut off water to independent farmers in an area that was just populated after ww2 by returning GI's that settled there on cheap land . These potato and hay farmers and cattle ranchers , dairy farmers can't make a living so they end up in cities and towns as they lose their land and way of making money because they have no water !! Long term plan but I'm in one of the least populous states in the USA but its considered beautiful and relies a lot on tourism and rich people retiring here . My area used to rely on logging and lumber from huge forests , farming and hunting and fishing tourism but now relies on wine tourism and retirement home castles , hospitals and real estate plus a couple universities . Anyway the concern from natives in this area is REWILDING . Just info from what I hear on local talk radio , newspapers , local people and my common sense as I see reintroduction of wolves and other wild life into the area !!

There is certainly great pressure nationwide being put on younger people to move to the city, and to rely strictly on public transportation.

It has worked, young people do not aspire (so far) to buy homes or do anything other then live and rent in the heart of the local city..I think they call it "Manhattanization."

Article's way too long. I couldn't afford an MG but did have a 1967 Triumph Spitfire - British racing green, of course. I loved that car but had to change the points every time I turned around. Eventually point changing got to be a real bore and I bought a Challenger, the first year they came out. That Challengar was a piece of carp. ;)

Are you willing to allow the gov. to outlaw a human driving a car ?

I'm not.

It won't be necessary.

Millenials would rather ride their bikes..the next generation will have no desire and no necessity to learn to drive.

wrong on both counts, my granddaughter hardly rode a bike, her friends didn't and everyone drives.

Live in NYC, no need for a car...live in N Tx and good luck using public transportation for daily needs.

Can you comprehend that this thread is not just about you?

And if you're so friggin' old that your grand kids are already driving cars..you can start again on this thread with..

"Things your great, great grand kids won't do."

Another engineer, Sue?

stop quoting me and I'll stop replying & educating you

millennials were born in the 80s into the 2000s, hardly a group I've witnessed choosing bikes over cars

I'm 57 years old, approx the same age as you.

"I'm thinkin' you were an old guy at 19"

I would prefer mature to old at 19, if you please :)

I can tell you absolutely that my oldest Grand Children have much less interest in motorized vehicles than their parents did at the same age.

On the subject of driving, keep praying that the millennial on both coasts keep
making the decision to not drive. Might keep them
from moving into the fly-over states. Especially ours!

doing the dumb things I did. They need to be better.

  Apparently some took umbrage at my comment. Glad some engineers don't fit the mold but the majority do, at least in certain areas. Even my brother-in-law, who is an engineer, comments on the rigidity and my way or the highway attitude of engineers. He's working very hard to become a more open minded type of engineer. :D

That said, we love our engineers! All of us have our shortcomings. 8-)

Try this..think of something that will go away permanently in say...the next 25 years.

Think a bit creatively, and you'll have something to contribute.

..and here, too. All the major streets that used to have two lanes going each way..now have one..the other is for the two wheeled menaces.

Oh my goodness, same here.......with girls. My youth would have been so much easier if I had listened to my parents. But I wouldn't have had nearly as many stories. :P

Two wheeled menace is a good description. Too many think they own the road and are immune from traffic laws. Makes life very hard for motorists.
