Their first Greatests Hits Album is 49 years old

Postby Red Oak » Tue Mar 31, 2015 12:44 pm

And they are going on tour again, Jerry World June 6th.

I was a big Rolling Stones fan, back in the day. I Keef & Charlie the best; Jagger I could tolerate.

I don't think I will make it to this one; too old (them & me); too expensive; too crowded.

Seen them twice. Don't need to see them again. Even though I saw them at the Astrodome and the Cotton Bowl, I can't imagine the Death Star being a very good live music venue.

Can't be doing if for the money. And, agreed, all too old for it including me. They were never one of my favorites anyway.

I saw them at the Cotton Bowl in 75, 81, 88 or 89, and 94.

The best show was at Will Rodgers in 78, I lucked into that one.

What do you call someone with 999 million dollars?

A frustrated Billionaire.

Like everyone in show business, they'll say they're not doing it for the money.

Like all other professions, they do it for the money.

It's work..and yes, most of us like our work..but like other professions..we ain't doin' it for nothing.

We all do it for the money.

I doubt Bob Dylan still does it for the money. With 51 record albums out there, I can't imagine he needs the money. He must just enjoy it.

I work for someone who has far more than that.

..try asking Bob Dylan to write some hit songs so he can turn the publishing rights over to the homeless.

Nothing unique about show biz.

The ultimate kiss of death/major league no no for your basic lefty, artsy fartsy, recording artist..being thought of as " doing it for the money."

I don't have that problem..besides being Conservative, I'm an unabashed Capitalist.

Yes, I enjoy my work but..

..Of course I do it for the money..do you think I'm stupid or something?

1. I'm sure he enjoys it.

2. You or he or anyone could argue.."he doesn't need the money."

3. ..but that's not relevant to.."he does it for the money."

..and aren't y'all glad you have a man on the inside?

(pretty good use of "y'all," wasn't it?)

I just saw Gordon Lightfoot last month, he's 78 years old and his voice is shot. But, he filled the opera house in Dallas for his show. I doubt he still does it for the money. Maybe for his band since they have been very loyal to him for many years. He has a new lead guitarist, his old one died a couple years ago.

Yes, well done.

It's about the money but, as with politicians, it's about ego more than anything else. Who doesn't like being admired and cheered on?..............and for the guys, when young, knowing 99% of females in the audience would happily have sex with you.

I will never forget the comment made by a guitarist in a counseling group many years ago. His was a pretty popular group and he was coming to understand who he was in reality. He said the big light bulb moment for him was when he realized all those women were screwing his guitar and not him. It was quite a blow/enlightening experience to realize he was just another guy but that he had a hold over the twitty women because he played guitar.

Additionally, a lot of people don't consider that it's possible to LOSE money doing big shows. There's a lot of overhead for a big tour. I'm pretty sure the Stones aren't in this position, but many artists do not own their own music and rely on their performances to refill the coffers.
