KLUV HD 2
Re: KLUV HD 2
The Malibu is 13 years old (40,000 miles), the Jeep Cherokee is 11 years old. No HD radio in either one of them.
Is there really such a thing as HD radio? What makes it HD?

Yes, there is such a thing. I get WRR in HD. And no, I can't tell anything is different. It still fades in and out just the same. And when it does I get a country station out of Shreveport. Love the juxtaposition of Beethoven and Clint Black (or whomever).
I don't know anything about KLUV though so guess I'm not very helpful.

Working to love my fellow person regardless : >

KLUV HD 2 plays different music, basically oldies from the 60's with a few 50's thrown in. The regular KLUV plays 70's and 80's now. It didn't work in my car again today. I guess I will have to get out the owner's manual and see what it says.

I'm pretty sure the main reason for the "HD" deliniation is to enable companies that own the main frequencies to broadcast over different (but related) frequencies, as is true with the HD tv stations. I don't see how your normal radio could sound much different than when receiving regular, non-digitized signals, anymore than a non-HD TV can receive "better" pictures from a digital source.
Very possible that the .-2 network you are wondering about has gone off the air.

I don't listen to the HD2 station for a sound quality difference, I listen to it because I like like their music selections better!

I'm sorry, after re-reading my earlier reply I sounded like I was talking to "you" specifically when I actually was referring to a general "you", as in any of us. I understood your post, but worded my response poorly.

That's OK!
This evening the station is back on the air. It must have been a weather related outage.
