Major crisis at my house
Major crisis at my house
My keurig finally kicked the bucket this morning. I forget to bring some coffee home from work, so I had NONE when I woke up. My husband thinks I can wait for another coffee maker until my birthday in the middle of JULY and drink instant coffee until then. IF you haven't guessed, he is NOT a coffee drinker. I will not be drinking instant coffee for a month and a half. I'm going to have to locate another coffee maker by the weekend, that's for sure. Any recommendations? Or I might be able to locate a used keurig, but I'm not set on that. I SURE don't want the new keurig! My plastic cups won't work in the new ones.
Re: Major crisis at my house
Get a stainless steel percolator that makes about 48 cups and you will be good for they day !

I'm not a coffee drinker either but I've had instant tea. If instant coffee is anywhere as bad as instant tea I fully understand your dilema. If you are looking for a short term fix would one of the cheap Mr. Coffee types work? Also, what's wrong with celebrating your B-day in May? Also, a coffee maker is a questionably acceptable B-day gift.............'specially if it's from you to you.
Working to love my fellow person regardless : >
Re: Major crisis at my house
I would rather bring coffee home from work, put it in the fridge and reheat it the next morning. THAT would be much better than instant coffee!
I'm waiting to see if my mom still has an extra keurig.

If I don't end up with a keurig, I want to buy something that comes with an insulated metal carafe. No breakage problems like with a glass carafe and the coffee stays warm and fresh.

Dang....ten cups of coffee in 3 minutes. That is unreal! Not sure I want to spend that much but it looks nice.

I am a serious coffee drinker, Mrs. Red Oak drinks Coke Zero; after having my happy^$@ sent to the local
Stop & Rob at midnight to purchase Coke Zero; I now insure I have a stack of them in the utility room.

Buy the Cuisinart version of the Keurig. It uses the regular K-cups and is a better built machine. It just doesn't look spiffy. I bought mine at Bed Bath & Beyond.

Just found out that my mother has an extra Keurig machine she is giving me. Free is my favorite.
But I always like to discuss coffee and coffee makers.

BTW, do you use the premade K cups? I have the reusable ones and make my own. Every now and then I buy a box of the premade ones but that gets expensive.

Free is best for sure.
I use the regular kcups and the reuseable ones. Each works OK.

I don't mind the regular drip coffee maker, but I would rather not have a glass pot. Things got broken with kids around. The metal insulated pots are so nice.
Re: Major crisis at my house
My coffee maker broke one morning a couple of months ago.
Until I bought a new one I boiled coffee in a pan and strained the grounds out with a sieve.
Best coffee I ever drank.

We only use the prefilled k cups. I like donut shop and he likes Newman's Own. BUT when the power went out in an ice storm Hubs had to go to McDonald's and get two cups of coffee for the next morning. That's what I did, refrigerated it and warmed it over the gas grill in the darn percolator I bought for camping. I guess I should put some coffee in the freezer for such occasions!

Does she wake you up to go get it?
