Vacation

Postby Sangersteve » Tue Jun 16, 2015 12:39 pm

Are you going to take one?

Where will you go?

Do you have a place you'd like to go,but can't or won't?
It's a joke son,I say a joke

Nope.

Ideal spot for me is Canadian Rockies or Quebec. Would also love to see British Colombia or Nova Scotia. Or almost anywhere but the beach. Living in Fla. for 18 months cured me of any desire to be on any beach ever again.

I was, but my impending death due to the approaching rain has put the kibosh on that.

There was talk about going to Denver, but I don't think it's going to happen. We might just take a couple of shorter trips close by.

I'll be at my brother's place outside Estes Park Colorado sometime this summer. Don't know just when yet. Love it there! Took this picture there last summer.

Well..in the last 3 weeks, I went to Switzerland..then home..then London and Austria..then home..now on my way to Puerto Rico.

Vacations are spent on my front porch..or for more exotic thrills..my back deck.

I just got back from St. Croix and I'm planning a trip in August to the Durango area and probably to Alexandria, Va in late October or November.

I want to take Tanner and Trey to Washington DC. In 1967 Karen and I spent Four days there. We had a room close to the White House with a wonderful view. We walked all over the area. The Jefferson and Lincoln memorials late at night are wonderful. I want to try to recreate those experiences with the boys.
Reflecting pool, Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers, Arlington, etc. I need to go visit a couple of friends on the Wall. I will not take them with me when I go there.

I've been on vacation this week. I made round trips to Austin Monday and Tuesday to get loads of stuff from my daughter's apartment. We have to have it vacated by the end of July. Wednesday, I did some stuff around the house that needed to be done and took the dog to the vet. Yesterday, I worked on the lights in my shop and took the dog to the vet again. Today I am going to Rowlett to have lunch with my parents.

This is about how all of my vacations go. We never go anywhere. My next week of vacation will be July 13. That is when I will complete the task of emptying out that Austin apartment.

Oooooh fun. Where is your daughter when emptying out that apartment? I usually had to get most of my moves done myself when I was in college.

It's looking like we will be going down to Galveston the week of July 4th. Would prefer S Padre but an opportunity to stay somewhere for cheap came up a few days ago. For us, cheap is good and the girls love ANY beach. The drive to Galveston is so much shorter too.

When I left the house at 6:00 am both Monday and Tuesday this week, she was still in bed. She is taking a trip to Austin this weekend to see some concert with her friends. I told her to pack her car with as much stuff as she can for the trip back home.

My name is on the least in Austin, so I am viewing it as my responsibility to get the place emptied out. I'll get her stuff delivered to her new place in Rockwall, then she is on her own. I've fulfilled my obligations. I kept my word to see the college thing through to the end. She now has a four year degree and a masters with no debt. She is 24 years old and starts a good job in six weeks. It is time for her to take care of herself.

As far as Austin goes, the drive isn't that bad, packing the boxes isn't that bad, and loading the stuff in the truck isn't that bad. It's all those trips up and down the stairs to the third floor apartment that hurts.

I remember getting into some hassles with mom over my moves. I wasn't getting it done fast enough for her and my stepfather. I've helped other people move since then and I was always miles ahead of where they were. Anyway, the last time I moved to where I am now, I purposely did not ask for any help from them because I didn't want to deal with mom's opinion on my progress or lack thereof. And we got it all done. Afterwards they asked why they weren't asked to help and seemed a little hurt. Argh.

Yes it is time for your daughter to take care of herself. Does she have all her stuff out of your house? Alot of my friends left stuff at home. Mom wouldn't have that either. Mom and I really do get along most of the time. She just expects me to be a responsible adult.

Having been in college for the past six years, she doesn't have a lot of stuff still here. A bunch of stuff is stashed here while she is in between apartments, some in the house, and more in my shop. She doesn't get her new place until July 8. I plan to deliver everything over there that weekend. I will tell her to have whatever friends are helping her to be there then to carry the stuff up the stairs. I will reassemble the stuff I've disassembled, and leave the rest to her. We're having us a good house cleaning after that.

I feel like I've prepared her well to be a responsible adult. Now it is time for her to deliver.

I moved out of my parents' house when I was 20 years old. I've never asked for a thing since that day.
