holster shopping

Mrs. Red Oak wants to go holster shopping today.

She has had couple of revolvers that I gave her nearly 30 years ago, and has now decided to carry them on the Owl Hoot, because it is the Wild West out there !

Truthfully she needs it more around the Metro Mess, IMO, but hey it is a start

As you must be aware, there is a plethra of holsters to pick from, IWB-inside waistband, belt, SOB-small of back, Appendix-front of slacks above zipper, Shoulder, ankle, thigh and fow the ladies, if its a very small handgun, there are some bras that have a carry compartment, so I am told.

I really do use that word as my father seemed to a lot. And I do know I mis-spelled it. Thanks for the proper spelling

I'm sure this won't help your wife but I use an undershirt with a reinforced pocket sewn under the left arm pit for conceal carry. I tried several different things and liked it the best.

I never heard the small of back holster called a SOB, but that is what I'm calling it from here on out. That is usually what I carry.

We found one for her ancient I frame S&W 32 that suited her needs for a 'field' holster, it is deep enough that it will protect the gun from dirt and debris, and it has a secure retaining strap. It also is a high rise type holster that works better for women as they have a higher waist. We did not find anything suitable for her Uberti Cimarron Model P Jr, however a gentleman told me that any holster that works for a Ruger Single Six should work for it.

One thing she determined right off the bat was she didn't like IWB holsters or shoulder holsters.

I generally carry concealed with an IWB on my right hip, and a flap holster on my right side for field carry.

I ended up with a vintage wooden sectional shotgun cleaning rod set.

I was tempted by a really clean Remington 878 autoloading shotgun, a Savage 340 in 22 Hornet, and a nice old Krag Sported - none which did I need

Normally, "whole mess of" would be incorporated in proper usage.

Add beer, and the colloquial, "a buttload of", would replace it.

If you've got several months to wait and a couple of Benjamins, i like the looks of these custom holsters. I think when I finally order my first it will be for my 1911.
