Yes they are.... I have a friend who uses them for tips. They always remember him

Some coffee cups are just too small.

Re: 2 dollar bill
I wonder if you can still ask for them at the bank ?
Not that I ever go to the bank.....

How long has it been that you last ran across a half dollar in circulation?
Re: 2 dollar bill
I got a dollar coin in change the other day.
Re: 2 dollar bill
Back in the day (when I worked at a bank); you could order two dollar bills and dollar coins from the Fed as part of your currency/change orders. That was 25 years ago. Probably could still do it, if you found a locally owned bank. One of the national chains would probably do it now, but you would pay dearly for the service.
Re: 2 dollar bill
I get them from our Wells Fargo bank. They know I get them every month or two for tips. I swear some of the youth that take your groceries to the car look askance at them. But it's fun to give them and reassure them that they're real legal tender. I wonder if they can get a coke from the machine though.
Re: 2 dollar bill
I used to have a $3 bill with Clinton's picture on it with a Pinocchio nose.
It had some fake Latin inscription- 'Sic phonius billum' or something like that.

I carry a $2 bill that my dad gave me 30+ years ago. I have only received one in change in the last 20+ years. It is in my jewelry box.

Re: 2 dollar bill
Shortly after the gold looking $1 coin came out a relative gave me a roll of them. I threw a few in my pocket and at Dillards Dept Store I bought something that cost $10.85 with tax. I gave the clerk a ten dollar bill and a gold one dollar coin. She asked me what is this, A JOKE. I told her what it was, she didnt believe me. She called her department manager over who also cound not decide if it was a real coin or not. Finally they had a assistant store manager over to look at it and this guy had in fact seen a news segment on the new gold coin, they finally took it. What a hassle.
and FYI, Thomas Jefferson is on the front of the $2 bill, with the signers at Independence Hall on the reverse

There must be half a dozen different dollar coins out there at the present time that were minted within the last 30 years. Most were released with minimal publicity so the public doesn't even know about them. All have the artistic merit of poker chips. The government is determined to have a dollar coin that is actually used but the only way that is going to happen is by discontinuing the dollar bill because the public has shown it does not want a coin. They would then need to bring the $2 bill back into general use.

I have a couple of them. I suspect they will spend just like 2 of the $1s.
