A close shave

Postby Sangersteve » Sat Aug 15, 2015 8:23 am

Whats your choice in shaving gear?

I went back to one of these about a year ago. I shave about every other day and the blades last much longer than the drugstore stuff, around a month for me.

I look at that and think about all the cuts and scars on my ankles and knees, from shaving in my youth, and how much razor cuts burn.

Bob has given up on a razor and has gone to electric because of so many nicks. I think it has a lot to do with older wrinklier saggier skin.

Someone on the internet swears that if you dry the razor blade after use, it will last for many shaves.
I have no idea....but I let my razor air dry and can get lots of leg shaves off one razor.

Clark Howard is a big advocate of drying the razor blade.
Won't razors always air-dry? I don't think that's what they mean.
I started drying mine with a hair dryer. Only takes a second.

I went electric many years ago. Got tired of getting nicked and bleeding. I have had Remington, Norelco, Braun and a couple brands no longer made. At Christmas time last year I splurged when I found the Panasonic 5 blade electric on sale on Amazon. It's the best electric razor ever. I gave my Braun series 7 to a son-in-law, Still have a Remington and Norelco but will never use one of them again unless the Panasonic crashes.

Gillette disposables..and I shave every day..occasionally twice a day.

Only time I've ever cut myself, was if I was in a hurry.

I buy Kroger brand disposables, I think its 4 for under $5.00 As I only shave when needed,(when going out on Patrol for my DPD Volunteer service,) I dont have a clue as to how many uses I get. I shave in the shower so my facial hair gets pretty soft. Very few cuts, but then I have been practicing for a very long time.

I tried an electric razor but it didn't give as close a shave as I want. I use disposables, and I found a Brut brand twin blade that does the best and most nick-free job of any razor I have tried, including fancy multi-blade types. They were five for a dollar at a factory outlet type store here and I got enough to do me for a very long time. One will easily give good service for eight to ten shaves.

I take my razor out of the bathroom to the dressing room. I don't want it in the humidity from the shower and sinks. I have no idea how long it lasts.

Where in heck is a dressing room ? When you come home at night to retire, do you go to the un-dressing room?
